Shows the disparity of the current state of football in the UK though....Sky Sports News hardly mentioned it as they get all fake excited about Bale going back to Spurs and Aubameyang signing a new deal probably on a weekly wage not far off what Macclesfield owed to end up being liquidated.

The irony of this being a sub breaking news story to the Bale transfer 'saga's is surely not lost on even you. Especially when his weekly wage is likely more than enough to cover the 500k Macc have been wound up for.
It is all wrong, whether you like what you hear on Talksport or not.

Maybe not the clubs as such but the Premier League is run by the FA who in turn govern all football in England. They could certainly look to do something to help clubs as whilst there are the odd few that have been badly run to get into issues currently there are going to be many clubs at all levels that will struggle with no ticket income.

Why is it nonsense? One player could've saved them. I'm not saying any particular player SHOULD have done it, but it illustrates the current sickness that it is the finances of modern football.

I agree that Covid is of course exceptional circumstances but under normal conditions any kind of financial safety net for smaller clubs would just be abused by owners keen to gamble on short-term gains.
Mac was my first Town away trip. Freezing. Forgot my glasses. Couldn't see a dull 0-0. Watched the replay. They beat us at Saltergate.

The only link between Bale and Macclesfield is the game of football-sounds obvious but similarly:-
A guy gets evicted from his house because he can’t pay his bills. A guy down the road has a massive house- he didn’t do anything to help the little guy pay his lortagage.
- a pub a day goes out of business - meanwhile Wetherspoons opens a new one every month
-a corner shop goes under- meanwhile Selfridges makes massive profits
And that sort of thing 🤷🏽♂️

Guess it depends if you believe there is no symbiotic relationship between grass roots football and all steps beyond up to the ‘elite’ stuff

Macc’s losses seem minuscule compared to what we were shipping at the height of the DA/AC reign
As the Trust seems to indicate unless there’s a major change in fortune , we’ve got weeks before the proverbial......
