For the people bigging fylde up, was talking to someone whos son plays for their youth team. Says they have a really good academy setup etc and the place is run really well but he has been told they have invested so much money in it that if they don't go up within two seasons they will go under.

The same will happen to Salford if they cant get out of this League. The class of 92 (which now includes Beckham) can only keep pumping
money in for so long before it comes unviable.

Might put another 300 to 400 on the gate as people will be curious and intrigued to go and try it out and see the new supporters bar.

Salford’s majority shareholder is a billionaire.

Not really a surprise, they wont be the first and wont be the last in this sort of situation if it did happen. For every Crawley, Fleetwood etc that chuck a load of cash at getting in the league there are plenty at various levels in Non League that go big for a few years then fall flat on their faces.

No longer majority shareholder is he since Beckham joined in i think. He sold some of his chunk to Beckham.

Think he still owns 40% and the other 6 own 10%. Either way if he’s still involved they’ll never go bust whatever they do.

I thought he bought 10%, same as the other class of 92 members, meaning combined they are the majority owners with 60% combined.

Yep thats what i was referring too...the billionaire guy who also owns Valencia initially had 50% with the Class of 92 lot having 50% between them, now with Beckham on board its 60-40 to them.

All this said with the 7 of them i dont think its going to go pop in the short term. Would need all 7 of them to walk away from it and you would think thats unlikely. If the Billionaire geezer walks i suspect the Class of 92 lot would pick up the rest between them etc.

Beckham earns more in a week than it costs to run Salford for a year. Money isn't a problem but lack of interest in a tinpot club will will run out eventually as it will never hit the big time.

I suspect that getting Beckham on board is totally key. He can afford to pump in £2m alone per year for years to come I'd imagine. Salford are only going in one direction whilst he's on board, and probably Lim too. Salford to eventually become a feeder club/loanee club for Valencia. A bit like Udinese and Watford a few years ago.

Why can’t Salford’s owner keep pumping money in? He doesn’t need it

Does the money generated go to the footballing side or corporate side? Rhetorical question because I think we might know the answer.

Whats now the Glassworks has been through a fair number of incarnations and owners since the ground opened so its obviously not all plain sailing whilst hasnt the crown and anchor changed hands whilst the other pub next to it ended up becoming a chippy! Beer Parlour has opened and seems to do well but its not really the same sort of place that a supporters bar would be and probably does get some weekday business off the back of that.

I would loved to have seen the sort of place Fylde has at the Proact but it would still have the issue of outside of when Town are at home how busy would it be to make it viable and i'm not sure it would be unless it was pushed for events every week as well and then its in competition to an extent with the other lounges etc at the ground.

Yup, you're right about both pubs but the fact remains folk've seen enough day-to-day demand on Sheff Road to invest in them. As for what's now 'Chesters' it kinda emphasises my point - infact I seem to remember rumours of Allen building summat similar on the Proact footprint before it appeared.

But hey, as he 'doesn't do failure' who're we to argue...

They aren't viable now and never will be - them and others will go pop if and when the owners get bored (includes us)

I doubt they will have 3-400 customers of those that go never mind another 400
