Thanks- strangely, I was watching a documentary about referees in Northern Ireland, narrated by David Jeffrey, just a day or two before Saunders went.

It's a touch unfortunate that the first word of the headline ('Marc'?) is mis-spelled and there is arguably an unfortunate choice of twitter commenter, but good to see the Derbyshire Times taking an interest in Chesterfield FC.
These go to eleven.

Be very suprised if that pole dips below 80% in favour or the sacking decision..

Cheers for heads up on typo.

The Jeffrey suggestion is one of the most left-field I've seen in football. Even as a Northern Irishman.

Where do people come up with these names? What's David Jeffrey actually done?

Won 31 trophies in 17 years with Linfield.

Apart from that, not a lot.

Key word being Linfield.... Let's face Saunders would probably be a success across the waters.
Diddly squat experience of the English leagues, no thx.

We all know at the end of the Day Allen will pick one of the usual suspects as our new manager. He's certainly not brave enough to look outside the box.

Well you've just contradicted yourself good and proper with the 'whats David Jeffrey done' line then accusing Mr Allen of not looking past the obvious.

Make your mind up.

Currently only 90% think it was the right decision to sack him

I wouldn't choose Jeffrey personally he's a nobody, just saying Dave Allen wouldn't choose anyone than a usual suspect.
To be honest Geoffrey from Rainbows got more chance of getting the job than David Jeffrey.

Paul Cook was a league manager, one with a bit of talent, it was a no brainer.

He'd been at Accrington about 6 months, with a very patchy record to say the least. But if that's what it takes to impress you...

Was it...a few on here questioned the appointment, myself included, that it may have just been done on the back of his side playing well against us in a defeat!! There were probably a few more options that were more of a no brainer that Cook at the time especially as we went and poached Cook compared to one of the many longer serving more established managers that were out of work and probably contacting the club regarding getting the job.

His Accrington side were playing nice football, given better tools at Chesterfield I can understand why he flourished , I had nothing against Paul Cooks appointment. Compare him to someone like Saunders and there's no comparison. I reckon this time it's going to be harder to snag a decent manager and it's going to be one of the usual suspects doing the rounds.

Last chance to have your say, poll closing this morning. Although the result is largely a foregone conclusion I'd say...
