Gotta say seeing the last artists impression of the centre circle full of trees is very unsettling, it just looks wrong.

That plan won't last long. The prospective residents are bound to protest. They won't want hooligan football fans coming to pay homage to the loacation centre spot at Saltergate and rioting on their front lawns.

Or urinating up the side of their sheds, although to be fair it wouldn't be much different to the toilets behind the kop now!

Renting out property? They might agree with you but hasn't the deal already been done?

I think the outline on the Council's website includes something that looks and feels worryingly like a Garden of Remembrance for where the centre circle is/was.

It's important that our history isn't forgotten on the Saltergate site. Any ideas? Is the Club bothered?
Just looked at what Arsenal have done, yuk.

If the plan (as has been mentioned on here) is to have a grassed area marking the centre circle location, how about a central area in that with the club badge in coloured bricks/stone or a paved area where people can donate items (pin badges etc) to be inlaid as has been done between Ann Summers, Woolies and HMV in town?

There is a steering group looking at all heritage aspects. The ideas and projects will be publicised as they develop and wider participation invited. This group is working along side Alan Stevenson, CFC in the Community and the stadium architect.
Although some have considered art and landscaping at the new site, I am not sure anyone from the Club has looked at what will be left at the Rec. However as that development is by the stadium developer I am sure this can be looked at.

Would using valuable land to have a commemorative area be beneficial to WB in slightly increasing the potential value of the developments adjacent to it or would they be better recompensed building on as much of Saltergate as possible??
Depends on how the housing market fairs over the next 2 years i suppose.

Nice idea though!

The developers for the old ground are Gleesons. The land being part payment for their building the new one.

Everyone is looking forward to the new development and rightly so, but I think it's important that we ensure that CFC is not totally erased from the history of the site.
Check out what Steve Perez has tried to do with the Bradbury Hall site, here.
Likewise, maybe the old glassworks could be remembered at the new site.
