simple:
he's not the best right midfielder at the club - assuming roy plans on playing hall there

he's not the best defensive midfielder at the club - that's niven

he's not the best left midfielder at the club - smith/logan/jcr etc

and ASSUMING we do sign a new central midfielder, he's likely to be a more attacking player, which is the role that allott would play in the centre - why would roy sign a player in the same style as allott who was of poorer quality?

BUT my point is you dont know if the new player is even going to be a midfielder yet. You mention JCR why he aint he here. For the time being we are argueing an impossible case as there are too many ifs buts and maybees.

I have read somewhere that Hall actually scored most of his goals from central midfield. I will try n find the article if you like

there's only 1 IF, and that's IF we sign a player good enough to start as a central midfielder for us, then allott will be on the bench

i see that as a step in the right direction, when a player like allott isn't in the team
