Just finished listening to the Tony Lormor episode. We always remember him as such a playing legend but it's easy to lose sight of how difficult it is for ex-pros when they finish up. The interview captured that well. I really hope Tony stays well and it's great to see how his illness has motivated him rather than defeated him.
These go to eleven.

That was a brilliant watch, really enjoyed it.

Hi everyone. Another week another podcast.

This week I spoke to Jamie Winter. Another really interesting chat about the Rico era with pointless meetings and mind games. Some really funny memories about growing up in the Leeds youth system with people like Scott Carson and James Milner. Seemed like a good squad at the time, him and Peter Leven took a bunch of players up to Glasgow for a Rangers vs Celtic derby. And he had some lovely words about the last Kevin Austin.

Jamie is a lovely guy. Obviously really enjoyed his time at the club and still in touch with everyone.

Still best mates with Peter Leven, who is only 1 win away from promotion to the Russian Premier league with FC Orenburg.

Thanks- I knew Leven has been in Belarus but not that he was now in Russia.

https://sportcareers...?article=460&k=

Seems he had to go back out there as he couldn’t get a UK job, which is surprising given some of the chancers who still get employed time after failing time.

Just found a recent podcast video with Peter Leven (I won’t link to it on this thread) and he speaks very warmly of his time at Town. Says the players had to wear shinnies in training because centre-back ‘Kev Ellison from Carlisle’ (he must mean Kevin Gray) could never tone it down. Apparently Town turned down 130k ish from Brighton for Leven before he left for MK Dons on a free at the end of his year’s contract.

Leven was a good player, I was disappointed when he left.

Kevin Gray was a poor signing, Richardson doing a mate a favour.

Cheers guys. Jamie mentioned them having to stop training once as Kev Gray kept kicking lumps out of everyone in training.

Jamie is setting me up with Peter Leven so hopefully when they are over the line with promotion I can have a chat with him.

Ha ha...not sure about that. I'm starting to feel like I understand how their careers progress now. There are so many similarities it's probably meaning I'm asking more informed questions. And it helps when someone is as nice as Jamie.

Brilliant, and yet another devotee of Messiah Shinner. Is it really too late for somebody to get him back?

I credit Jamie Winter for making the second best pass I've ever seen - a 40 yard defence splitting curver to Jack at Notts - which Jack missed one on one with the keeper.

I reserve the best one for Mark Randall, who fed Scott Boden with a pass of such quality that he went into a trance and misscontrolled it.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

This week's podcast is with the great Bob Wilson. Great memories of him watching Gordon Banks from behind the goal at Saltergate and growing up in town. We also spoke about his coaching career, broadcasting and the amazing work him and Megs do with the Willow Foundation. Really lovely man and loves the town.

What a top bloke.

Have to say I wasn't expecting much from this one, but with Bob being an obvious pro at this sort of thing it was really good. As you say, a lovely man. Loved the 80s footage at Saltergate and the Market Place as well!
The greatest miscarriage of justice since my case against the producers of the Never Ending Story

Hi Dave,
Tony Brien would be a good one, supports the team and a regular on the Facebook page.

I think you could just let Bob go and he would tell you his life story. Like you say, a broadcaster so very good engaging and entertaining. Was disappointed the club didn't invite him up at the time of the new stadium being opened.

I'll pop Tony Brien on the list and keep working on Tina!

Sean O'Neill up next week.

Bob was very good, why not message the club about doing something for his 80th in Oct?

I'm sure they could invite him up for a sportsman's dinner/fundraiser with him as after dinner speaker and handing over by some of the proceeds for his charity, combine it with him leading an auction or such like?

I'm sure Jim Brown would be interested, get some of our ex keepers along +/- famous players from Chesterfield (Lukic, Matt Lowson etc).
