We were saying we expected someone to get sent off for two silly yellows yesterday as the ref was backing himself into a corner with some of the cards he dished out. That said it took until after 90 mins to finally book Mitchell for stopping dead balls being taken quickly. Number of times he kicked it away or took the ball.

Ref despite the cards very nearly let it get away and it wasn’t far from getting very niggly and silly. He irritated me with just his demeanour and how he was standing at set pieces etc…..like he’d modelled himself on mark clattenburg which isn’t a good thing

What impressed me about the referee most was how he had the yellow card in his hand, for our players, before their players had been fouled.Uncanny!!

There were a few idiots waving tenners at them too. We seem to have drawn in a few idiots recently.

We’ve always had more than our fair share of idiots.

We’ve had him before previously we’re I think he almost got an escort of the pitch but can’t remember the game.

5 wins 2 draws sees off Barnet Mathematically

Draw tomorrow and it’s 4 wins two draws

Win and it’s 3 wins 1 draw

Fact is we've been sussed by the others in the league. The only surprise is that it's taken so long.
Just pack the defence, don't worry about anything we do outside the penalty area and if you get the ball, launch it forwards and run like hell after it. It's resulted in 8 goals conceded in the last three, and we were lucky that was all. I might be remembering wrongly, but we were conceding too many goals earlier in the season and had to do something about it. The something was Mike Jones, and the cure is the same this time.
Vulnerability to breakaways is inherent in the way we play. and the reason why it's vital not to lose the ball when pressing high up the field. It follows we can't afford the luxury of only one defensive midfielder, and that one yesterday was Oldaker with Naylor further forward. Nothing against Oldaker, who's being doing well lately and is always looking for the ball, but with the way we play the position needs a destroyer, not another outlet for passes back from around the penalty area.
Just a tweak is all. The defence hasn't suddenly lost it. They look nervous at times, but so would any defenders confronted with numbers of attackers running hard at them.
And what's happened to Mandeville's corners. Start of the season they were lethal, but the testing ones are very few and far between nowadays. Launch it high to beyond the back post and let Grimes get at it, but instad they're all over the place.

Spot on assessment. All managers know our weak spot and will exploit it. And yes we are very vulnerable on the counter and have to rely so much on the ability of Tyrer who can't stop them all but has done brilliantly so far.
So I expect changes next season to our defensive structure in general.

If all managers know how to exploit our weak spots they aren’t doing a great job of it given the table

Incredible statement really. We will do well to get another point now we’ve been sussed.

Not sure it’s been mentioned on here, but Bromley have won just one game in the last 8 NL games and have 7 points from those games.
On that form they’ll be lucky to get to 70 points.
Barnet picking up a little, be good to put a big dent In that run tomorrow. .

Last 10 games sees Barnet 10th and Bromley 11th with 16 and 15 points accordingly.

All this bottoms out at one simple fact - we're not some footballing colossus able to score for fun at one end whilst keeping successive clean sheets at the other.

We enjoyed a purple patch. Doing exactly that on occasion. However now we're getting towards the proverbial 'business end' of the season it's more chaotic.

We don't have a Duncan-esque defensive ethos. We do lack penetration without Colclough, Berry or Dobra at his best. We will have to earn the right to win.

I agree with Jones getting a re-call. And Jacobs behind Grigg. I'd have Naylor playing ten yards further back, too. A solid spine of experience.

Relax, though. This three game log-jam will break (that's three games, folks). In fact we could draw every remaining game and still be champ's.

Besides, I seem to remember the Hollywood funded Wrexham stumbling on occasion - and certainly conceding some daft goals - this time last year...

The 'incredible statement' is your second sentence, though 'complete and utter nonsense' might be a better description.

I don't want to speak for WB but I'd imagine that second sentence was sarcasm.

Don't they always. Tempted to put the NSS phrase up but it'd get censored!
