Help
Apparently they are all but bankrupt. How the hell can this be allowed to happen, surely safeguards are in place that stop this from happening.
Staff not been paid in full since November.
What a mess.

There’s a lot of stuff flying round between the ‘Independent’ administration and the previous Labour one, but it’s alleged that somehow STC managed to give a contractor access to their bank account to pay themselves. The contractor then paid themselves twice and cleared off, the police were apparently involved.
From there it gets a bit unclear as it seems this happened under the labour administration but they had made arrangements to pay off the deficit. The leader of the Council since 2019 (Indy) says he has found there is still a defect and it is worse than first thought. However they’ve continued to set budgets which remain in defect (which is illegal apparently). Labour are alleging he has known about this for 3 years and should have reported it to the police.
In short, it’s a mess, complicated by politics and bickering.

I only read the Exec Summary, that was enough. Sounds like rather than move forward trying to improve things for the people, time has mostly been spent arguing and everyone blaming everyone else.
Politics eh!
