McFarland and Todd were excellent together, but I don't think they were better than the Liverpool pair. Hansen would drive out into midfield and beyond sometimes without losing the ball, while Lawernson could catch a striker while giving him a five yard start. There were a few Scottish players I wished could have played for England and amongst those were Hansen, Dalglish,Dennis Law and Willie Johnson. All great players who would have done a job for England.

Agree. Probably the best domestic centre back pairing I've ever seen. Hanson should have played far more for Scotland than he did. Don't know why he didn't. Asbsolutely fabulous centre half. Whilst Lawrenson was perhaps the only English / Irish player who was good enough to have played for England rather than opting for Ireland. However I did go off Lawrenson when I believe he spouted some ignorant testicles about us.

I'm not sure, but wasn't Hansen struggling throughout his career with his knees. He seemed to be ever present for his club though. I wouldn't think too bad of Lawernson because it seemed like everyone was writing crap about us at one stage but the stories seemed broadly the same. I think it was a case of every paper wanted to pull us apart without knowing the truth, but when have newspapers worried about the truth. Ex footballers usually give their name to a column but it's written by some half baked hack who's sole reason for existing, is to write sensationalism first and foremost. During my time watching Town, there's not much positivity been written about us, especially in the national press.

I think the away form will more or less dictate where we finish next season. If we can ensure we stay tight defensively we will pick up a decent amount of points. Coincidentally I think the home record will be spot on and a few sides will be on the wrong side of a hiding.

True, it's always been said that win your home matches and don't lose away and you'll not be far off the right end of the league table. If the defensive players we've brought in shore up the back, and Mike Jones can help mould Tim Akinola into a decent clone of himself, I think we'll do ok.
Has anyone heard anything about a right back on his way in? I was told it was imminent, but to be honest I think we'll use Williams and Mandy to backup Sheckleford.

I'm happy that we've got out of that cesspit of a league, so if we make the top half of league two I'll think we will have had a good season. If we make the playoffs we'll have a stupendous season and if we go up in any way shape or form, we'll have gone way beyond my expectations. I do think we would have made the top half of league two with last year's squad.
Cook is out to prove to the Sheffield double act that he can take us further than they ever dare wish.

France 0-0 Canada in their final pre-Euro game.

    The French done too?

    Or a meaningless friendly?

I don't think you can count any friendly played just before a major tournament meaningless. Surely that's the time you try out your starting eleven. I know the players don't want to get injured, so they'll hold back a little, but the first game in any competition, like the Euro's is a do not lose game, so you need things ironed out beforehand surely.
