Who is this new holding midfielder we have signed? Dan Gardner I think is his name. Whoever he is, he was MOTM. Seriously though he was excellent today. His game yet for town. More please Dan

Faded a little second half and a few too many flicks and farts still, but a very good performance in an unusual position for him, well done.

Yea I thought he was excellent although still has a tendency to play a silly ball in a silly position, if he cuts that out then there will be no stopping him. He actually looked like he prefered this position to being out wide.

I still think we tire early as a team - fitness needs to be worked on

When was the last time we scored in say the last 5 mins of a game/ injury time?
We've conceded quite a few but I can't remember the last time we pushed on and scored!

Agree - the decline in work rate and sharpness was obvious within 15 minutes of the second half starting.

I agree Fish. Not under Cook, Saunders or Wilson can I say I've seen Dan play well for the full 90 minutes.

Love to Caldwell has sorted him in one and this is the start of something good.

I enjoy watching 'flicks and farts', much rather see him try something technical that might open up a bit of space than a long ball for example.

It was an unusual position for him but he did OK. It helped that he didn't need to get stuck in very often.

Do you think that might have been down to Gary Caldwell's analysis of how Wimbledon play so tactically felt Dan Gardner could do a good job there?

From his interview on peak I don't think it was tactically to do with Wimbledon more to do with caldwells assessment of gardners attributes

Couldn't agree more. The fitness levels leave a lot to be desired. We seem to be suffering in this area ever since Mel was taken on board. Football requires a different type of fitness compared to the armed forces.

Sounds like Caldwell plans to develop him in hat position and that it isn't just a one off. It will be interesting to see what happens when he come up agaist a strong midfield

What i still find bewildering about Dan G is the fact hes coming up to 27 years old and yet struggles to play 90 minutes 3 years after we signed him

Here's my slight problem with this although I thought Gardner played well. . Evans isn't a lone striker. To play Gardner as your ball playing centre mid, you have to have two others around him; he can't be one of two. That means you can't have two up top..... conundrum.
