I haven't listened to it but I wonder if he was suggesting that the EFL were looking for an excuse to keep a club with a 1000 or so (at best) supporters out their league?

Surely the EFL can give them time to find a ground share. The problem is surmountable if the council show some will.

It’s not that the ground isn’t to standard it’s that they don’t have a long term agreement, minimum 10 years, to use the stadium for football. For a ground share to work they’d have to sign a deal to be there for 10 years+.

Sounds like it’s not something that’s happened overnight as the efl say they’ve been working with the club last season and last couple of months to sort it but the club haven’t sorted a deal with the council in time.

The deadline to have it all sorted was the 28th of March.

NL have now changed tack to say that Alty will get the bye. At this rate Oldham will be in the play-offs by tea-time.

I find it entirely fitting for this league that they should insist we play on Monday in order to protect the competition's integrity by allowing Gateshead & Aldershot to play on Wednesday, then end up with neither side in the play-offs. They could, I suppose, have replaced Gateshead with Aldershot, who finished one place outside the play-offs.
It's nice to be able to Trust again.

Didn't Brighton play at Gillingham a few years ago for a few months?

It beggars belief. Beyond shambolic the way this has been dealt with

They were already in the league though, Coventry have played at Northampton and Birmingham in recent seasons as well. One thing kicking current clubs out of the league compared to rules for new member teams coming in.

Apparently Gateshead do have a deal in place now for long term use that means they could be promoted but too late for this season hence being kicked out of the play offs.

So as it stands then (and I stand to be corrected) Halifax have to go to The Birmingham Airport Bus-stop to get the right to play Barnet and Altrincham go to Bromley?

That's right. And the Solihull Halifax game is now on Wednesday night I think, which means the winner gets less than 3 days before the Barnet game. Both get one less day than they'd had before if they get through.

What would be the point of Gateshead competing next season knowing they cannot be promoted? What an awful situation for them.

You cannot believe that the powers that be haven’t had plenty of discussion about how to proceed in the event the Gateshead scenario wasn’t resolved? Including time to review their rules and get some legal advice.

Absolute shambles. Very embarrassing for them with this much time to prepare

Talk is they could get promoted next season, a deal is now in place but wasn’t in place before the deadline required by the efl.

Not sure whos to blame more the efl or gateshead council. Only good thing is that awful club aldershot still aint in the play offs, what a sert of ******s they are. Whilst i think the national league is badly ran, they cant be blamed for this. What pees me off most is coventry were allowed to play 30 mile away at northampton but gateshead cant play in the efl due to stadiun lease having a clause, double standards or what

I’m hating myself for asking but why the hate for Aldershot?

The council are trying to sell off leisure facilities in the borough to raise cash, this means they are looking for a private company to run these facilities moving forward. I'm not sure against that back drop how they could agree to giving Gateshead FC a long term deal when that might harm any potential sale.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

They seem to have it in for gateshead and them refusing to play the other day really painted them in a bad light. Manager is a total gob Bunkum too. Odly enough in sure he was actually born in newcastle
