Additionally, I think a LCB is essential either to be first choice or to be good enough to keep Grimes on his toes so to speak. Currently, we only have one LCB and one LB in the squad.

We have to remember that once the window closes we cannot sign anyone until January so have to ensure we have enough options and/or cover until then. As such, and that?s why, I would expect a few promising U21 players to arrive who will not be counted as part of our 22 but, nevertheless, would boost our squad numbers.

I have a feeling that both Williams and Mandy will be the backup right back, with a promising under 21 to make the numbers up. As for the left side of defence, I'll be interested to see who comes in because we can only have 22 in the squad plus under 21's and goalkeepers, and unless we move players on, we aren't going to be able to bring in experienced defenders.

Ffs he got released by Cheltenham our defence has been an absolute liability, he has been the best central defender but you can?t say with confidence he will be comfortable in the league above

Can't see any of them being first choice after last season. Whoever stays will most likely be as back up.

That was covered by a large number of outlets, so more likely true. (The Wrexham bit, not the large fee)

If these contentious rumours were true presumably it would be relatively easy for the club to work out the source of leaked private conversations and said source would be out the door.

I highly doubt this particular rumour, but rumours do happen and some are true, you'll have seen numerous examples on this forum alone where people have informed us that a player is signing and they have subsequently signed. Dunno why you find this so hard to comprehend tbh, but I look forward to this same conversation next year!

To be honest, I take these sorts of things in the ?silly season? spirit, but the rumour monger said Grimes himself had told his colleagues this. I strongly suspect it?s rubbish, but thought it was sort of accepted that this thread would contain flights of fancy as well as some more substantial rumours.
