I just put the thread up to try to put into some perspective the problems we, as a club, face when trying to make our close season signings. I understand that Stewart is probably better than your average "3rd Division" striker but the money that Bristol are paying out is completely unmatchable from us. Therefore I think it is understandable that any "accomplished" players we offer contracts to may well dally about for a week or two to see what other financial offers are about.
This is not the fault of Roy or maybe not even the club, it`s the financial facts that cause is this problem.

Football wage wise is totally out of control and should have been capped a long time ago.

I think reality is beginning to hit home. Premiership (more specifically Chelsea) apart. Deloitte have just released their latest findings into football finances and I think it showed wages falling by something like 17% over the last year in Div 1.

There is a form of wage-capping being introduced with pay being linked to turnover isn't there? Which makes it all the more surprising that we've fought of competition to sign Paul Hall !

He's had one go at Prem level and couldn't hack it.

Lifelong fan of Bristol City and at his age wanted to get back home for the last bit of his career.
