This has got to be the limpest defence of a title since Man City in 1937-38

Whilst I always thought that the bowling attack looked very limited the batters have been pretty poor throughout the tournament. We seem to be trying to apply T20 tactics to ODI cricket and it just doesn't work. In the ODI game you really need to lay the foundations for the innings in the first 30 overs so that you can attack in the last 20 overs.

How does that compare with Steve Davis defending his world snooker crown in 1982. He lost 10-1 to Tony Knowles in the first round.

They’ve downgraded one day cricket domestically and internationally since winning it.

Bad & getting worse, Root & Stokes won't be in the 50 over team after this tournament I hope, they've been dreadful.

Stokes only signing a one year central contract rather than the 3 year one he was offered suggests to me he’ll be concentrating on being a franchise biffer - good riddance he should be an ex-con not an ex-international

No, the reason he's only signed a one year contract is that there is going to be a new television rights contract in 2025 and the contract is based on TV rights, it's so he can renegotiate his contract next year.

Having seen the scorecard the fact that the perennial batsman Extra's was 4th top scorer in the convict's innings spoke volumes though. India will win this tournament now, they'll crush the Aussies if they happen to come up against them again in the knock out stages or final.

I’m holding out for India to fail dismally on the knockouts just for amusement of seeing Kohli’s face….

So todays semi final sees India get to play on a used pitch that potentially suits the make up of their side when regulations stipulate the semi final should be on a fresh pitch and the rotation of the available wickets that was agreed with the ICC has been ignored after the host country and local groundsman opted to use a different pitch instead. Leaked email from the ICC person responsible for overseeing pitches etc says he is frustrated at agreed rotation of pitches being ignored throughout the tournament to date and it appears its likely to happen again for Sundays final.

Now India probably have been the best side and probably should and will win it but this will leave a bit of a black mark over the win....

Don’t like seeing the Aussies win but watching India bottle it in their own back yard after they’ve pulled every trick in the book to ensure they win it is very amusing.
