JB you seem up on your cricket, where do we go from here? i watch as a cricket novice but this team seems lost, smash every ball or we don't know what to do, other teams seems to be able to build innings, england look flat to me, lacking a real game plan and hoping someone will simply come in and smash it out of the ground. is butler under pressure to retain the captaincy? is the team too old? not hungry enough... all in all this world cup has so far been very dissapointing for a defending world champion side, players struggling with fitness/injury. inevitable demise or just not great prep? or a bit of both?

Our white ball cricket was revolutionised under Morgan so expectations are high but others have maybe caught us up. People are criticising the squad choice but I can see why they stuck with what they did. Archer being fit would have made a difference.
It’s easy to go in and say wholesale changes are needed but not sure that’s the case. However not really playing the format here doesn’t help…..while our 50 over tournament was happening most of the squad were playing the crappy hundred thing.

is the hundred a big part of the problem then? i have only come back to watching cricket since the lockdown period, watched as a kid but then nothing for years, from what i've seen and without being too critical as you say, i do wonder if our batting needs to be a bit smarter at times, is that fair? just seems a bit like we're trying to force it a bit and blast everything, is that the "hundred mentality"? btw that's one format that has not re-hooked me.

Hundred scheduling doesn’t help as it’s the same time as our domestic 50 over cricket so most of this England side only play 50 overs when it’s for England.

Side note...the sooner Livingstone is sacked off the better. Living on a reputation of a few big sixes and the fact he can apparently bowl off and leg spin....both of which arent great! Picking a side based on having folk that do both harks back to the horrible white ball days of the 90s when the likes of Mark Ealham got a game because he did a bit of both! We dont seem to know how to pick the team to suit how and where we are playing.
