So Farage's never ending victimhood now extends to claiming his latest vanity vehicle has been somehow "stitched up" by a firm supposedly vetting it's candidates.

https://www.mirror.c...etting-33053250

But surely the question must be why so many "loons, fruit cakes and racists (© David Cameron but without the increasingly redundant "closet" bit), not to mention Nazi apologists and 'friends' of a fascist are attracted to his party....?

And PS: isn't it a bit hypocritical to criticise them when he's spent so long associating with some pretty questionable characters himself...

You know as well as I do that despite all the bluster, no political party will target those who fall in the top or bottom percentiles so as not to risk the likely fallout. Much in the same way that they don't have the appetite to tackle education, healthcare, crime and punishment, immigration, unemployment, etc.

Those who work, contribute and manage to save are sitting ducks for any political party.

My inlaws had 6 kids, he worked at the pit, she was a dinner lady, but they were very careful with money, mortgage paid off by 40, never borrowed, and always had a bit put by for an emergency. Never has there been a better definition of a labour supporting working bloke... except to Starmer it seems... You dont need to be in the top x percentile to have a few quid saved, its what everyone should do...

At least it now confirms that no one in the Cabinet or Shadow Cabinet will be a working person ;)

still criticising the others rather than responding to criticism of your party Chris, come on, you wanted a debate, what do you reckon to Starmers comments on working people...?

I mean we have to talk about that as they wont tell us any policies...

Ian, mate; most folks' idea of debate is posting relevant points which're then discussed.

Your idea is making any and every exchange immediately about Labour.

As has been so painfully proven on this very thread.

But if you think that's more important than a bloke sharing platforms with self admitted racists and school shooting deniers, or his party being peppered with 'friends' of fascists and Nazi apologists then hey, be my guest...

Indeed and they should be encouraged, not penalised for it.

Maybe, maybe not time will tell. However what we do know is the last 14 years have been an unmitigated catastrophe mixed with lies and corruption even if you won't admit it

I asked a question about Starmer's comments today which you have ignored to talk about Farage - who will be the leader of a party with maybe 3 seats after the election (until he decides not to be again)..

So yes, debate is posting a view which is discussed not ignored. Thanks for agreeing.

Reform have some good policies but they dont figure on my radar, they wont win and they are obviously peppered with racists and oddities - extremes at both sides will be. But at least they have some policies to talk about :)

But I admit that and don?t try to climb the high, virtue signalling, horse.
BTW, If you have savings you arn’t a working man, According to Starmer , what are your opinions of that?

I mean if we've had 14 years of uselessness, what difference will another 5 make..? Am I the only one who would like there to be an option that actually sought to make a real difference to some of the disasters that are ahead if we dont do something about it now...

But no, more tinkering round the edges, more squeezing in to the same small square on policies - well at least those they will tell us about now. Maybe the radical bit is in the bit they arent saying....

Are you excited by the next Labour government, like we all were in ?97? Mind you war monger Blair sucked us all in then, just as secretive tax rise Starmer appears to be sucking most in now. Some of us have wised up!

In all fairness, the rampant inflation of the last few years has meant people have had to use savings to plug shortfalls or left no ?wiggle room? so repairs to cars, holidays, a new settee, a new cooker etc came out of savings so there?s a large element of truth in what SKS SAYS

ANfriend at work had his fixed mortgage end just at the wrong time and his payment e doubled overnight. He had to re mortgage from 15 years left back to 25. Just to meet the payment terms
A new hope.

If Labour get a decent majority things will get done. The NHS was created by Labour and more recently A/E 4 hour waiting time. The Tories just destroy everything. As in the pandemic Cameron texted Sunak -Nows the time to coin it.

What will get done? we have an ageing population, improved medical procedures and treatments, fewer people economically active, already very hogh tax take from business and those on higher incomes, the expected spend on the NHS and pensions will balloon. And Labour will do what? devolve a bit more power to mayors, allow a few more houses to be built and create another govt body in the energy company, and growth will finance everything - well that they are talking about so far...

Growth will be better over the next 5 years - inflation is back at target today, productivity will increase as firms will need it to to pay higher interest rates which wont go back to below 1%. But I see nothing in what they are saying that will move the dial - except we will spend more on the NHS (into the black hole it goes, to what effect who knows) and somehow we will magic up new teachers and PCSOs despite doing nothing to make the jobs more attractive... but more spending means more tax so just the govt deciding where its spent rather than individuals...

So the next 5 years should be better than the last - no Covid, no shock of a war in Europe - but will it be as good as it could be and will it set us up for the5 years after....?

Assuming the inevitable - what does the the new cabinet look like? Hopefully there is some experienced MP heads in there to counter balance the Streetings of this world.
