We have to hope Pembo gets lucky and can have this kid for the season. No brainer to bench Evans and put him in straight away. Seems like a sort of Sid Nelson type player. Anyone remember him.

This is Anfield site’s take on his performance last night:
“Rhys Williams – 7
From non-league at Aggborough to League Cup at Anfield, it was a big show of faith from Klopp to give the slightly older Williams his second start for the club against Arsenal.
Though there remains a tendency to dive in, alongside Virgil van Dijk he looked composed and mopped up well in the air, and he kept it up when the Dutchman was replaced by Joe Gomez.
Perhaps the biggest compliment for the 19-year-old, as a centre-back, was that he was largely unnoticeable.”

If Klopps prepared to give him a start, albeit in a weaker team in the LC, I imagine he might see the lads loan future slightly higher than the NL?

Zero chance of him coming here.

You have to think so. In which case, I’m not sure of the wisdom of Pembo publicly saying he hopes to sign him. Many a slip between cup and lip.

Out of interest, is this Williams a right or left sided CB?

Just a thought, as how JP is talking Sharman up unless Williams is left-sided could his signing disrupt Sharman's development?

Don’t think it’s a problem we need to concern ourselves with. League 2 clubs at least will be interested in Williams now.

Pembo does seem to have contacts at Liverpool and said he talks to them regularly, so maybe they liked what he did with the lad at Kiddie and would prefer him to get that sort of development again....

No, I dont believe it either but if you cant be a hopeless optimistic at the start of the season, when can you....

Fully agree. He's this season's too-good-for-us loan target; David Brooks 2.0

It's a tough life, do you want a bagman for future games?
