So, watched it again last night, purely for educational reasons of course, and I'm buggggered if I can understand the ending.
Right up to the final scene, nobody knows for certain which of the two women, Catherine or Beth, is the serial killer, but if Catherine uses the ice pick on Nick following Beth's death, then it's a bit of a give away so why would she place it under the bed and even contemplate using it?
I can't see the logic, or is it just me? Any road up, great film.

In this top notch digital pause age, i suspect its a bit clearer. However I think I read that she was wearing a prosthesis and it wasnt her actual growler.

It's just a standard plot device to make you question what you have seen, rather than the plot nicely tied up you are now questioning the innocence of Catherine. It's a bit like when the horror villain comes back to life despite you just seeing him die 5 minutes ago.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!
