From what I remember it was the offer of a contract to renew an existing player regarding us and Abbey which could be different to offering a contract to a potential new signing. I’ve also mentioned the recent thing with Man U and De Gea. They appeared to agree a new deal to the point De Gea had signed before Man U changed their mind and offered a second contract on even lower terms which De Gea has turned down and left the club.

Pretty sure Abbey took us to a tribunal over the removal of his contract offer but no idea of the full details and to what reason he won. I’m not sure it’s as simple as any contract offer to a player has to be in place for a month.

I seem to remember it being withdrawn, and that’s what he won over. I might be wrong over the time period being a month but that’s what I remember (or at least I think that’s what I remember) - at the time it seemed to be to a bit mental, club offer contract, player doesn’t sign it. Club withdraw offer. Player sues club.
A new hope.

My [limited] understanding of Employment Law is that an offer can be withdrawn, within "a reasonable period of time", but not exceeding 3 months. Furthermore, the reason, itself, for doing so has to be reasonable.

I appreciate that sports' employment law has some subtle variances, but I dont think this is one of them.

Nathan was an existing player, and had played all 46 league games. If he had been offered an extension in say early May, and his contract wasn't due to expire until 30th June, then, it could be argued that "reasonable" was until then. Did he win his case, or was it an out of tribunal settlement? Even more likely with the potential "racial" element thrown in.?

However if the governing body and the union have an agreement that is within the law but specifies certain conditions/time limits?
A new hope.

Quite possible.
Regards Andrew Dallas, it wouldn't be a surprise if he signed on, or soon after 22nd July, his 25th birthday. No compo would then be due to Solihull. Even if it's not for us.

I can't see the club doing that. They would be opening themselves up to a court case with Solihull. He was there for 2.5 years tops, i cannot see the compo which needs to be paid breaking the bank.

So whichever club he signs for will be happy he misses 3 valuable pre season weeks, the rumour I am hearing is the agent being the stumbling block for all clubs looking to sign him by requesting a hefty signing on fee for both Dallas and himself. Offers have been made and both sides playing the waiting game. Heard this from the girl serving me in McDonalds

Is that even a thing? I thought the key component was being under 24 when your contract expired thus being a young development player?
A new hope.

As long as Solihull offered him a contract before June 30th they will still be entitled to compensation even when he turns 24.

If he was simply released they would have got nothing but the offer does have to be an improvement on the initial contract. I'm not sure what rate that is and I'm happy to be corrected.
