Southend would need to beat Fleetwood to possibly avoid them in a potential play-off semi!

.... Can't see them beating Southend ! .... Obviously, if Fleetwood lose, then we are up on Saturday.

Jeeeeezus f**kin' Christ - I've just aged ten years!
No idea how we played or what's happened, but winning is all that counts this time of the season.
Enormous credit to Cook and the players for doing so.
It's now far more straightforward: Burton need to win both remaining games, then rely on defeats for ourselves, Fleetwood and Rochdale, not to mention a twenty-plus goal turnaround. Not gonna happen; so will they commit one hundred percent next week? Publicly yes, but privately I doubt it.
Fleetwood know they have to win against a decent Southend side to pose a continued threat. Infact defeat would see our vastly superior goal difference effectively promote us.
So next Saturday could - could - witness another occasion when we go up without kicking a ball.
And as for Town?
Victory at Burton and we're up, simple as. Maybe not mathematically but in every other sense. What's more we're still in with a terrific shout of winning the league. What more incentive do the players need?
I can see the Pirelli Stadium full of more Spireites than locals next week, and I hope any post-promotion pitch invasions are met in the spirit they occur.
PS: I'm so, so chuffed for Shaun Dyche. Burnley? Meh, take 'em or leave 'em. But for an ex-Spireite so cruelly sacked by Watford to achieve what he has, well, what a top bloke and manager.

What if Southend think, let Fleetwood have the points, give them a chance to push us into the play-offs, where they'd really fancy their chances?

Not forgetting Rochdale of course who are closer to the chasing pack. They're arguably under more pressure as they have to better our results due to our superior goal advantage.

best described as controlled. Could have been 3 - 0 to town.
