They cant sign anyone or offer new deals to players out of contract as they are currently under a transfer embargo that wont be lifted any time soon.

What I find interesting is all the grief we got over furloughing players yet Southend continue to use HMRC as a line of extended credit. I've lost count of how many winding up petitions they have had over the years by repeatedly pulling this tactic. Surely at some point someone needs to point out they are taking the mick and should face some real consequences for doing this.

Boston got doubly relegated in 2006-07 from the FL down to NLN for the 2007-08 season.
Halifax folded and were relegated in 2007-08 despite finishing 20th (Altrincham got reprieved)
Chester were expelled in February of the 2009-10 season and their results expunged (more on that season later!)
Rushen & Diamonds folded in 2010-11 despite finishing 13th,
Darlington folded in 2011-12 but were in the relegation places anyway,
Salisbury who got relegated in 2009-10 despite finishing 12th and then repeated the trick when they folded at the end of the 2013-14 season after also finishing 12th and Hereford were relegated the same season despite finishing 20th,
Gateshead got relegated despite finishing in 17th due to financials in 2109.
Macclesfield folded before they started 2020-21 season (and now we've got the Robbie Savage ego trip team)
and Bury weren't allowed to take their place in the National League when they got relegated from the League (bearing in mind they were in League One at the time) in 2019-20 due to the mess they were in which got Maidenhead reprieved from relegation to maintain 24 teams.
To say there is history of it happening would be an understatement, we've even got repeat offenders!

Exactly and gatshead also getting demoted for having 2 at the most winding up petitions. As you say how many have southend had now and that embargo is still going on, a club going into a second season with a transfer embargo either needs it lifting or expelling from the league

Southend issues have gone on fee longer then the above. The chairman will probs get another loan, pay off some debt and the cycle will continue

This potentially is not good news for us. My worry is daft money being spent like Wrexham and we have to settle for the playoffs again 😢

Agree, but we need more promotion spots from this league, looks like us, Oldham and Southend for just 2 spots this campaign.
Can’t be doing with another playoff campaign, it all boils down to luck as we found out a few weeks back.
