In the words of Chris Kamara "Unbelievable"

How come we signed Goodall later and the paperwork for him was all ok? I hope it's just a formality to get this sorted sharpish.

.... a serious question, none the less!
I'm embarrassed by the actions of those who run my club.

Indeed, especially with the league so keen on awarding points deductions this season

seems a good decision from the club to be cautious (especially as it was a comfortable win anyway!)

Well that depends on whose error it was,i remember at one of the open days John Croot was explaining the complexity of signing players and the amount of paperwork involved,it makes you wonder how they found out there was something wrong,it is ubelievable when we have signed him and we cannnot play him then we had to wait weeks for the Kovacs money then i bet we are not still i possession of it and he has played for Lincoln....

I would imagine there would be some kind of payment terms, as with any business to business transaction.

Could be a problem with registration paperwork, or the fact that his registration was held by the 'old' Luton and not the new one that released him?

Although, saying that the Goodall deal is OK but he was released after the club came out of administration as the 'new' company.

If the club had any doubt whatsoever about Curries eligibility then they did the right thing.

One player is not worth a potential rule breach.

Surely our club must have to receive some clearance by fax or whatever before any new signing can play, this is not clear at all what the problem is and yes sammy your right in this day and age we used comon sense, somebody somewhere hasn't....

I would imagine the hold up has been caused by the fact that 'old' Luton would have had to release (or transfer on free's) all its players and the 'new' Luton sign them all on.

In theory then does this mean Luton are still liable for his wages until his release is complete and he is a free agent?

I suppose it also means he is free to sign for another club.

I'm not sayin he will or anything just pointing out he is free to until we sign him on officially.

Who decided Currie could leave Luton in the first place?

If I was part of Luton 2020, is there anything stopping me calling Daz and asking him for a chat?

He is nothing to do with Luton now surely the problem is either with us or the football league....

to stay you mean MP?

The 'new' club made it public that the current wage bill had to be cut and there were certain high earners they needed to remove as soon as possible if the club was to survive, which Currie was one.

I thought they had reach an agreement where he would accept the pay off on offer if he could get himself fixed up elsewhere.

Perhaps the paperwork issue has been screwed up by the 'new' owners and the fact they have little experience of running a football club between them?

I suppose that depends on what the chat is about and the players current status. I'm sure Luton wouldn't want to fall foul of the autorities by appearing to "tap up" a player who is at another club. Though I suppose if you are going to set a record for points deductions in a season you may as well set a defendable target for the future

Is he our player?

Is he Luton's player?

Is he a free agent?

My guess is, he's still a Luton player.

But if he hasn't been properly released AW, he isn't at another club and remains a Luton player until his released is completed, properly!
