I should be going. Would there be any bus tickets left on Tuesday morning or will I have to be organised and grab them tomorrow?

In a car we'd be able to go through the country roads of the Peak District, by bus it will take a long time.

It should be a good night out. Preston may play their reserves so we could be in for a chance. I'm not sure if it's worth risking Lester and Ward as they are our only attacking options.

I will ask the girl in the shop what room they have left and post when i get back tomorrow..

Me, BlueRover and Spireite68 made that mistake going to the Galpharm few years back...

I'm in Blackpool for the week, so it should be a 20 minute trip, and back to the seafront for a celebratory drink. The national football museum's at the ground; should be worth a visit.

Is Preston by car possible in 2hrs?

If you live in Garstang yes..seriously for a midweek game given either a motorway trip or via Hazel Grove-Stockport, from Chesterfield, then at the least, 2 hours is the bare minumum, assuming car parking to be found, and maybe a pre match pint.

Does anyone know the parking situation around the ground?
I hope to travel down (work permitting), anyone from the NE is welcome to a lift but I will be leaving early so no 4/5 oclock pick-ups, sorry.

2 hrs will be a puch but if you go cross country and then up towards Glossop when you get to Chapel, skirt round the edge of Glossop on the back roads and have a reasonable run, you can do it!

I used to live in Preston and did the route by road regularly - it'll take 2 and a half hours at least by road at that time.
This week, I have been mostly... drinking excessively

I'm with you, it's the best part of two hours on a good run!

If I was going I'd allow at least 3 hours to give you an hours grace (which you will probably need all of  )

Don't care if we get knocked out of this one, just hope we don't pick up any injury's.

Have a good day for all those that are braving the traffic.

Currently living in Preston (last 11 years) and trip down to Chesterfield most weeks. There are currently traffic lights in Furniss Vale to watch out for that will probably add 30 mins to a normal 2 hour journey. But its still the best route by far so dont be tempted by M1/M62/M61 - nightmare at that time!
Not a big crowd expected so parking should be relatively straight forward, either on the side streets or dead opposite Deepdale.
Mates up here who are Preston fans reckon it will be a much weakened starting line up (as last year) as they rate a long awaited promotion season much higher than this competition. I think we'll do a Morecambe and grab a win. Confidence must be high after Saturday.

Taking in my first game since April tomorrow. Leaving town around 2, there should be 5 us in the MPV. We'll have a couple of hours to sit and have a drink and some food in the town. Preston Spireite, can you recommend somewhere?

Sounds good WS. Leaving Leeds at 3, plenty of time to bask in the delights of Preston.

Remember, 7 subs allowed for tomorrow - do we have enough players?!

Not much choice for me really Si. Luckily i am between jobs at the moment (start new one in Leeds in 2 weeks) so will set off early... :D

Not too much around the ground unfortunately. Best bet is to come into Preston and have a couple on the way up London Road - Main A6 (past the Capitol Centre in Walton Le Dale.) You've got The Yew Tree (good for food and a decent pint), The Bridge Inn (over looking the river) or go past the ground towards Preston Barracks and park around the Barracks. You have a couple of good options up there and safer parking (Deepdale can be dodgy on some of the side streets!)
