from the horse's mouth.....5% of any profit. I'm normally ahead of you on the 'sceptical' monitor but in this case I'm convinced.

I suppose the total fee paid so far by Hull to CFC might now be more than the £1.3m, if we received summat for Hull's promotion as we did from Burnley for Tendayi. It's not summat Ashley would have publicised but it might have happened.

Now i was a big a fan of Clucas as any Spireite but sorry, £16m for a steady midfielder with one premier league season under his belt is just nonsense and another sign as to how the Premier League money train is losing grip with the rest of football. Grateful that we get a cut of it but its getting out of hand now.

Yes, excessive but at least he is an experienced, long standing Premier League defender that would probably still get in the Man U team. Far worse options than him such as Leicester demanding £40m for Danny Drinkwater who basically looked ok in the championship season because he stood next to Kante a lot and lumped it into space for Vardy to chase!

That's for Clucas, not for Cooper

With Stephen Kingsley going the opposite way as part of the Clucas deal, that will muddy the water in terms of transfer fees etc.

Presumably, the FA would apportion a value to any 'make-weight' player and calculate sell-ons due accordingly?

I suspect the deal has an overall valuation on it based on fee plus any players etc and the sell on is based on that....but this is the FA and EFL so who knows.

Problem is though, if Hull and Swansea come to a gentleman's agreement to lower the declared price, (which would be convenient if Falkirk are due a sell on Kingsley also), we have to argue otherwise with little evidence to support anything else.

We could potentially have the evidence of Burnley's bid

Swansea have some nasty previous regarding sell-ons, with Vorm. Apologies if mentioned already in this thread- though I suppose in that instance they were the selling club.

Kingsley played against us at Yeovil and looked poor.

Good point, but wasn't that reported as substantially less than the reported Swansea bid? And would that be dislosed to us, without going through an appeal process (costly?) if we were unhappy with the declared figures?

Yes it was a lot less, you'd hope the FA/EFL have a mechanism in place for valuing both players in deals like this, but I won't hold my breath

Could have sworn I saw it on the BBC website earlier?

Fair enough, hadn't seen that. Had seen £15m rising to £16.5m for Clucas then about 2 hours later something about Kingsley going to Hull but neither mentioned as being part of the other deal.

AC confirms some of the Clucas 'windfall' will go towards the squad budget:

https://www.chesterf...help-spireites/

some will be used to reduce the reliance on DA and some will go towards loan repayments (again, presumably DA is at the front of the queue?)
