I don't really want any player who signs just because he's desperate. I would love to see him back though.

He's a player who is too much of a journeyman and to be fair only ever really excelled under John Sheridan.
Perhaps he hasn't signed for anybody yet because his caravan has got a flat tyre.

A little bit ungracious IMO.
He was sensational for us and has done well in the Championship since - his record for a cr*p side like the Dingles was very good. Still only 29 and would easily be one of the best strikers in L1.

To be fair in the game these days I would say arguably there are more journeymen than not. Players move where the money or package suits them best.
I was reading one of stuart Bassons CFC books the one that has a list of CFC players through the ages (forget it's name) but I seem to remember noticing there was quite a turn over of players each season back in the early to mid 1900's. Probably for differing reasons back then. So maybe the journeyman is not a new phenomenon.

Davo dug us out of many a hole in the away games as well.
Davies played in 2 more games than Jack all season. Don't get me wrong. Davies was brilliant that season and scored more goals but at times (Stockport H, Rotherham H) Lester was on another level.

Jack was brilliant that season - in the home games. His away stats were 7 starts, 12 sub apps, 0 goals.
Davo was a shining light both home and away and at times won us crucial away games on his own (Wycombe, Aldershot, Cheltenham, Northampton etc).

I guess we can compromise that they were both great. Would love them both at the peak of their powers this coming season that's for sure.

Certainly Lester was on a par with Davies in the home games which is why they were so great to watch together.
I've never seen a better player for us than Jack, but that season Davo was the talisman that everyone thrived off.

Won us the game at Aldershot but he was dire and uninterested for most of the game. But goals win games
