In fairness to Berry, he’s not proved himself as a consistent performer match after match yet when played out wide so why put extra pressure on him to perform as the “one” in our system.
We definitely do need ant least another out and out striker in our squad in my opinion. Then, if we are unfortunate enough to be without all our players accustomed to the “one” role it will be time to experiment but not until then.
Coming back to Drummond, if he is actually on the radar, then logically the management have seen something in him that will add to what we have already got. One thing I feel about the likes of Berry, Colclough, Dobra and even Jacobs is that they seem more comfortable left of centre rather than on the right. Currently, the only player totally comfortable on the right is Mandeville and, even then, I think he looks better when partnered with King. As such, we have no real pace on that side of the pitch and should we consider that is an option we should have in our armour does this Drummond provide such an option?
I wouldn’t play Berry up front, I agree with you he’s yet to prove himself fully in his favoured position yet although I agree with another poster he’s definitely better than Jez was. I have also made the same point as you just have about us being slightly over loaded on the left with only Mandeville being a natural on the right. Folk probably won’t like it but I see Gavin Massey has been released by Vale, a right sided midfield player that Cook definitely trusts.
