Obviously we are going to lose some games. The key is how many? Looking at league champions in any division over the years the maximum seems to be about 8, so if we have lost 5 or more by Christmas I’d be concerned. Obviously there are exceptions and Man City in recent years and Wrexham and County last year only lost 3/4, but this is unlikely to be repeated. It’d be nice if we could only lose 3/4 but I’d settle for 8. If you are going to challenge for any sort of promotion you can’t lose more than 10-12.
Of course it’s not just about not losing, too may draws will do for you too -
and it’s better to win 3 and lose 3 than to draw 6.

Biggest problem for me has been the home form since dropping into this league, we drop too many points to sides we should be beating (and that’s not being arrogant by the way)

We dropped 22 points to sides below us in the league last campaign, that’s a hell of a lot of points. Converting just half of that total into points gained would have got us 96 points, and in a normal season taken the title.

We need to be realistically having a Notts County/Wrexham home record next campaign IMO.

Let’s just take it one game at a time and let the others worry about losing.

How many points from our August fixtures - I’m looking at a maximum.
God I hate this league.

There was only two teams finished above us though so your theory is gonna always lay heavy on the negative side with this one.

This year I'd say 5, but make sure we win at least 6 more than last season.

There’s no magic number, we just need to finish on the highest amount of points we can do.

We need to counter teams who come here and park the bus with 6 or 7 in defence then hit us on the break. We seemed to struggle with that last season, but it needs addressing this time round.

This team will lose quite a few this season because we have shown in pre-season that we will still conceded some soft goals and I don't think Grigg or the other 3 will be able to score more than the opposition again. I think this will be a season when the winners will have a low points return.

Maidenhead and Dagenham did it 2 consecutive home games, they mustered less than 6 shots between them but still scored 5 goals and 3 points apiece. That Maidenhead game we just never looked like scoring.

Doesn’t matter so long as we are one point in front of second place

What a bizarre thread before a ball has been kicked...as long as we get 1 more point than all the other teams I couldn't care less!

All that said, do you think we have a good chance of being the winners?

I think over the season we will be the most consistent team as we have a very good squad that just needs a centre back and a centre forward to be dominant.
The other teams are all much of a muchness and will be taking points off each other all the time.

The league is there for the taking. I honestly believe there are some dark horses and a few teams could win it . If we only lose 6 theni think we will win it

Who are the dark horses?. I can’t see any. A few have spent money so expected to do well and therefore not in the dark horse category
