Because, as I say, we're not going to keep getting penalties at the rate we're getting them, and football teams just aren't that consistent. We haven't had a really bad streak of performances yet amd we will before the season is over.

Johnson will go back to Villa, and it would be madness to suggest that Doyle's going to score 58 league goals this season, which is what he'd end up with if he carries on at this rate.

I'm not saying he won't score, just that the rate has got to slow down and goals will start coming at least partly from elsewhere.

Lost 2 drawn 2 won 1 isn't a great run. I guess its the "got to" stop bit I have issue with, along with the "we will have a bad run" I don't know how anyone can be so definite about the future when the future is so hard to predict - at the start of the season, who would have predicted us to be in 6th place after 11 games??. Were scunthorpe fans saying it's got to end when they went on the unbeaten run after 10 games? But every game came and went and they didn't lose.

I don't see why it has got to stop. It could stop, but it could also just as easily continue.

You might want to check your source. You look as though you've got his total appearances for Man Utd but only his league goals. Total goals = 51 for utd. Total career goals were over 70 in 600+ appearances

If an offer comes in that meets our valuation then he'll be given the opportunity to talk to them. DA has made it clear that selling players is one way of clearing the debt with some of the fee doing that and some being reinvested in the squad. Cardiff got more last season for finishing bottom of the Premiership than Man U did the previous year for winning it so they will have cash sloshing about its just a case of whether their nutter owner is going to let Slade spend it!

I'm half of the opinion there is nothing in this as it seems early for a Jan window rumour and there isnt a lot on the thread to substantiate it the last time i read it short of a mate telling someone they're interested in him.

Would a cheeky bid for Johnson be on the cards or do we go for a defensive midfielder.

ANY SUGGESTIONS PEOPLE......

God I hate this league.

It's not daft why should the likes of Peterborough sell players for 5 million stop having a small town attitude morsy is our biggest asset as he is turning into a proper midfielder he will only get better.

Which midfield player did Posh sell for £5,000,000?
A new hope.

Not Peterborough but Nick Powell went to Man Ure from league one Crewe in a deal worth up to 6 million.

If goals are what bumps up the price then he is a 1 in 4 man - some very very good ones as well from what I recall. Whether Crewe ever see £6 million is another matter - only 2 appearances at Man.U and a drink driving conviction doesn't bode well. £1 to 1.5 million for Morsy with add ons would be my guess at what some club might be prepared to pay but who knows ?

I think we have to get out of this little old chesterfield mentality if the players are good enough then they come at cost whoever they play for, I don't completely agree with Paul mitchell assessment of Morsy and his lack of goals I think morsy is more in the mould of a player like Gattuso who wins the ball looks after it and does the simple things really well he may improve his scoring rate as he drives forward but any goals scored by our 2 holders are bonus goals, I think morsy does a lot of graft and I cannot see us having such a grip on games if we lost him and he was replaced by banks , I could see banks maybe replacing ryan but not morsy.

Banks is a completely different style of player, I really rate him as an attacking goal scoring midfielder, but there is no way he could replace Ryan, he just couldn't match the work rate. That's not a criticism of banks, more a statement that we maybe underestimate Ryan's contribution to our success.

They haven't and you know that but sheffield utd sold harry Maguire for 2.5 and if morsy isn't a better footballer than him j will give up.

I was not really saying he could replace ryan more a feeling that a Banks morsy partnership would be superior than a Banks ryan partnership, I don't feel banks offers the support to defence and I see him more as fitting into johnson place if he leaves.

You might have been better off using the player, valued at half as much, as your example, rather than the prolific goal scoring striker

I wasn't comparing players just comparing clubs in the same league who get large fees..strikers always will fetch the most money.

Not sure how much legs this story has got. Cardiff already have two 'enforcers' in Dikgacoi and Adeyemi.

May have no legs at all, but Morsy is exactly the type of player I'd expect Russell Slade to go for, especially if Cardiff aren't going back to the Prem anytime soon, their high earners will need to be shipped out.
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

Morsy is up there with Jack as one of the best town players i have seen, itd be criminal to let him go for anything less that 2 million, he is our most important player, closely followed by ryan.

Just to put the potential fee into perspective, Cardiff bought Adeyemi (a similar 22 year old 'enforcer') from Birmingham, where he had just completed a good season in the Championship, for a fee 'in excess of £1m plus add-ons and a sell on clause'. I think we would be looking at something similar.
