Is it a trick of the eye, or are the two Kop end floodlight towers different heights?

Fantastic stuff, Pete - did you do one from each tower?

If only there had been message boards in 1967- how they would have complained!

Little chance, I could stand the height but it was very physically demanding just climbing that far. Oh and it shakes like hell when you get up there!

Great photo Pete.

You'd not get me up there for all the tea in China.

Did you feel safe?

I did wonder whether I had a real head for heights but in truth that wasn't the issue. I did use a harness as required by H&S regs so couldn't really fall. However it is a sheer ladder which takes some climbing. About half-way up I stopped and was shocked that I had so far to go. I couldn't go back as Ant Haywood was climbing behind me. Climbing like that takes its toll on your arms and so by the top (when the ladder actually leans out a little) I had little feeling in them. It was quite a challenge to actually get my hands to work the cameras. Despite having a proper camera present for the DVD filming I used a small digital camera and a camcorder that I could carry in my jacket pockets. There are two platforms at the top originally to accommodate all the bulbs but the top one serves the handful of modern filaments. We stopped on the bottom one which was about 10'x3' with a couple of poles around for protection. However this platform moved as you did and despite calm conditions when we decided to climb a breeze appeared on the way up. I could have taken better equipment and a lot more images but I was just astonished to be up there. The climb down was also demanding and I lost all feeling in my arms about two-thirds of the way down!

Tina captured it all as you can see.

Did you have Ant following you up to break your fall if you slipped off the ladder Pete?

Great pics.

If it'd been me, i couldnt have resisted the Castlemaine XXXX advert reinactment:

Pete shouts - "Ant, Ant, Ant..."

Ant - "Pete, you ok, what is it?"

Pete - "I can see the pub from here!!!"
