So, Pompey...

Me, I want Town to play the biggest clubs possible, and as Pompey fall into that category in the lower leagues I say bring 'em on.
Then as I see Paul Cook as arguably our most successful ever manager he'll receive a respectful acknowledgement of that fact on his return. There've been numerous comments alleging less than professional, perhaps even corrupt behaviour on his part but my view is it was symptomatic of the environment created by others around him.
And maybe something of a blind eye was turned when the bloke brought in millions in transfer revenue whilst delivering everything asked - and more - on the pitch.
So I'm hoping Portsmouth make it through the play offs, join other fallen clubs like Cov, the Blunts and Bolton in League One, turn up at the Proact in their droves...then go back home having witnessed abject defeat at the hands of a manager as straight and honest as the day is long!

The play offs are Cook's last chance saloon to avert a momentous failure this season. I am happy for us to play in L1 regardless of whether it is against Portsmouth or Accrington, so I don't care much whether they go up or not.

Yes, and Cook with an improved budget in league one could be dangerous and he will only come back to us to poach all our best players that he'd assembled

I'd like to see them stay down, one because I'd find the under achievement as funny as the annual blunts failure and secondly I'd like them to stay down to make it harder for Mansfield next year

But my initial thoughts would be that a smaller club like AFC Wimbledon being promoted would be better for our chances next season.

Yeah, it's a tricky one Tim. IF we have a team that we can all be proud of that can compete, then I'd much prefer ALL the bigger teams/games, though if we are going to be as garbage as this year then I want all the little poor financial clubs like Burton

I acknowledge your sentiments Chris, and understand what you say but I would find it funny if they fail. So that's my stance.

I was erring on the side of caution thinking someone like AFC Wimbledon would be a good bet for one of the relegation spots. I'm reasonably confident though that with a full summer behind him DW will have us much further up the table and we won't need to worry about it.

I'm intrigued why would making the play offs and getting your highest points total in 15 years be seen as a momentous failure?
IF we fail to go up via the play offs we will fix the couple of issues we have and try again next season. It's not like the club has gambled it's future on promotion.

Because you are the biggest club in the league by a country mile and you are behind Accy!!
If you don't see it as failure, then how the mighty really have fallen

I thought it was points that got you out of a league not the size of the club? If size equated to quality Ebanks-Blake would be at Baracalona.
Either way. It's been a good season irrespective of the outcome.

is it like writing lines at school? You keep telling yourself that and it must be true.?
I bet not many share your view of it being a successful season?
