thanks for providing this summary, I've watched the goals and wondered if I was thinking too harshly of anyon on the 2nd goal, he did save it twice after all but the 1st save did present the ball straight back to their striker.

Robbie Weir said on Peak that Anyon apologised in the dressing room....

Maybe there wasnt much available in January sales

lester has referenced luton several times recently saying how it has taken them 4 transfer windows to get the team they now have, over our last 4-5 transfer windows we have seen the team/squad weakened each time, that trend has to change next time around and I hope we do our business early in January not at the end.

What's worrying me is the situation we'll be in when the window opens..

What worries me is, 1. who is going to want to come to us at the bottom of the pack. and 2. Who is going to want to take our dross off our hands.

Players will always want to play, particularly if the price is right, and I think DA will offer money in January, so that's not an issue, getting rid of the dross will be, but a lot are on loan.

I’m not sure it matters to be honest. We need to finish 3rd from bottom come end of the season.

If we finish above Morecambe and FGR we will stay up. IMO they are the 2 that will drop

JBW and TL fit, with Lester’s ethos could well be enough
A new hope.

Poor Gary Caldwell he only had 2 transfer windows. Should we feel sorry for him?! Jack has 1 window to keep us up.

Relax. Ashley will have negotiated a fab sell on clause on Nolan, who is currently interesting West Ham if their message board is to be believed.

Maybe Moondog could ask A.C. to confirm any sell on

I was occasionally impressed with Nolan but unless he's improved hugely since I last saw him the idea of him going to the Premier League is ridiculous.

The idea of Shrewsbury being top of L1 and unbeaten in 15 games is less ridiculous but ludicrous nonetheless . Clubs like West ham can take a 500k punt on a player just on the off chance, a la Villa with Bowery.

How can anyone possibly say that Anyon was at fault on the first?? Even the height of the ball shows he would never have got nowhere near it!
The second you could say he should have handled the first shot better, but his second save in that phase was brilliant....just a shame the Cambridge forwards swarmed in & maybe the defence should have been better

Just got home & still feeling very frustrated. We played pretty well & I've seen us win playing worse many times. There were only 2 negatives for me. The first cost us the game & is called Joe Anyon. He got away with the ball going back into the danger zone from saves against Crawley but not this time. As far as I could see for the first he was deceived by the pace of the ball rather than the flight, the ball seemed easily reachable. Second negative was Reed who gives the ball away from over hit passes far, far too often & he's the same every game. Everyone else I thought did well especially Evatt, Hird & Flores. We SHOULD NOT HAVE LOST THAT GAME!!!

I was also there & on the terrences behind the goal in the second half with my nephew who is on Cambridges books, the first goal was wind assisted, the flight bent twice in flight & if Anyon was 7 feet tall would have struggled to get it.

Overall we didn't play bad, in fact in the first half we bossed it. In the second the wind got up so much that at times the goal kicks hardly reached half way. We definately did not deserve to lose, the lads will play much worse & win. Just keep the faith it will come right.

The defence reacted slowly to the loose ball for the second goal. The first might have beaten Tommy tbf.

Main thing is they win some games regardless of whether they play better or worse than today. They have to defend better presumably to concede fewer goals

Just on train home now. We will be relegated if anyon continues in goal. Its not just that he is a poor keeper its the fact the defense has no confidence in him and it affects their play. No way in the world we should have lost today

Just seen the goals on tv...is it coincidence that our last two relegations from L1 coincided with TL being injured?
I hate singaling players out but your comment re Anyon is so true, he needs replacing ASAP, he's a ticket to non league.
