We took twenty thousand-plus to the JPT Final when being relegated from L1 yet, bizarrely, only just over fifteen thousand when in the process of winning L2.

Never could work that one out.

That said today's is still a poor turnout under the circumstances.

More went first time because it was Towns first visit to the new Wembley?

As I say no idea, pal.

But as a good mate of mine pointed out why wouldn't five thousand folk who'd had a terrific day out two years earlier wanna do it again?

Also, think it’s about time the finals were at regional premier league grounds. These could have easily be staged in Manchester with a good split, a lot bigger crowd as well with less travelling.

Wembley prices are a rip-off but, even so, I am sure if we were in such a play-off our following would almost guarantee a bigger crowd than today's.

Richard Wood scores again.

Who and when was the last time a CB scored 2 at Wembley in a final?

Matt Elliott for Leicester in the 2000 League cup final?

Rotherham now 3 divisions above us. A disgraceful state of affairs.

Good luck to them, hopefully take 6 points off United and Wednesday next season

Really snook in at the last moment and stole that promotion place. Surprise really as the fans have been nothing but critical throughout the campaign. Just imagine there reactions if they’d had a season like the Bunkum we’ve been served up...

I’m hopeful that if MA works his magic league meetings could be back on the cards within the next 4 years. Have to see really.

We will be in the same division as them in 5 years IMO. Football goes in swings and roundabouts, and these are bound to drop back down to League 2. They’ve had a lot of luck go for them, something we haven’t had.

Why are they bound too? And we’re not guaranteed to get promoted.

We had a 5 year plan 8 years ago to reach the Championship and now look where we are.

I don't think either has prospered due to luck, just as I think our own sad decline hasn't been due to bad luck.
These go to eleven.

That Nolan looks a decent lad - why can't we ever pick-up gems like that?

Story goes Wood coulda been part of Jack's survival bid but for the Millers offering him a new deal to deter our interest, too.

Either way I'm told there was, perhaps still is a bit of a thing between Dave Trump and the Rovrum owner Tony Stewart. Maybe their multi-millionaire might send our multi-millionaire a pigeon with the message 'Yeah, that's what happens when you do things properly' should they get back up...

I heard that Stewart is not the real money man at Roverum he is just a front for several multi millionaires who put the money in

I think this came about because someone commented that Stewarts lighting company does not have a large yearly turnover

That seems to be a myth perpetuated by certain posters on here. The accounts of ASD Lighting show a turnover of £26M, profits of over £4M, that it financially supports RUFC, which is its subsidiary, and that Tony Stewart and his family wholly own ASD.

Just outside at the end of December, in them from January onwards.

Just add RUFC's name to the list of similar, or in many cases much smaller sized outfits we'll be playing below next season.

For a bloke who 'doesn't do failure' that's the disaster Dave Trump's delivered.

So far the non-disaster delivering Allen has talked a good game. If he he turns that talk into wins we'll move forward, but if not the Proact will become a very, very lonely place...
