Characters like Cloughie will inevitably attract many stories some of which are bound to be apocryphal.
I know Saunders is not much liked on here, nevertheless it was a wonderful story which you just wished was true. Saunders told it brilliantly too. Seems a better storyteller than he was a manager! I think the gist of it might have some truth, but like all good storytellers he exaggerated it for effect.
What is probably true is that Clough, always eccentric and unpredictable, sometimes behaved ever more bizarrely as he got older and the drink took effect. For example, there was the bizarre story that he was found unconscious in a ditch towards the end of his life. -

Can't see Cook playing both him and Grigg in the same team. And presumably this knocks Quigley further down the pecking order. Surely he will have to be loaned out? -

Like many I am sad to see King go but it is the right decision. He is not the player he was and looks like he won't be again. And he is still what 27/8? Should be at his peak.
I will never forget the first time I came across him playing for Halifax against us on a televised game. I had never previously heard of him, but every time he got the ball their commentators were raving as though he were a combination of Messi and Maradonna. And he certainly seemed very good for that level. Consequently when he came to us I thought it was a real coup. On balance he has perhaps been ultimately slightly disappointing, but no denying his contribution and occasional great moments. In his favour I think he will be one of those town players long remembered. -

When Cook’s previous team began to dissolve I believe Morsy was the last decent player we had left similar to when Danny Wilson was the last man standing in Arthur Cox’s previously excellent team.
I had stopped going regularly and my mate who had stopped well before me was given someone’s season ticket for a game I think against Bury. This was one of many defeats at the time and he said it was like watching Morsy and ten others. Shows.Sam was still performing well when surrounded by dross. -

Very good but he missed the plaques on the floor commemorating players.
