Hi all! Cheers for sharing this today.

Michael and I started planning this about 6 months ago when promtion was looking nailed on. It seems rare in football that you get a very defined beginning, middle and end and we both wanted to mark that but also have something physical to show for the photos Michael has taken and the interviews I've done over the years. Especially when you then add in everyhting else that has happened from the last few years like Covid, war in Ukraine, the passing of some of our legends like Ernie, John Duncan, Tony Brien and others, and the takeover of the club etc it seemed like something worth putting into print to remember.

The cost per book wasn't cheap as we wanted a hardback book on good thickness paper so we can't the people that originally backed this enough as it meant that we could pay the printing costs! The first 204 sold really quickly and the second run is already flying so thanks for sharing the word.

Also a big thanks to Ollie Banks and Jamie Grimes who both gave their time for a foreward and introduction and have been amazing. People like Jeff King and Kabby Tshimanga have also been really enthusiastic to give quotes for the book.

The sales of the first book mean that a good donation to the Ernie Moss Memorial Fund is being donated this week.

The next edition is due with us in the first week of July so we plan to be at the Matlock match with some copies too (Matlock have been great about it). In the meantime you can pre-order here https://thenationall....bigcartel.com/

    Cheers!
    Dave

Thanks all. I've been really humbled by the lovely messages over the last day. I may well pop back for the odd special when opportunities arise so you may get bits from me every now and then (Bryn Gunn did say he was going to bring Sean Dyche to the pub one day so I can have a chat with him). And you never know Alan Birch may change his mind again at some point!

Doing this all has given me the confidence and motivation to look more into a sports culture as a potential career direction so it's been amazing to do and I may be back after a little break.

Just seen the vid on YouTube, echo what you say moondog, they provided a superb insight in to a players/managers career and some great stories about the inner sanctum of our club.
Thanks for you efforts mate, disappointed they?re coming to an end.

Thanks both. It's feels like the right time after the promotion and I was surprised a lockdown project got this far! To talk to over 80 players and managers has been great and really changed my appreciation of the sport. Being independent from the club hopefully gave the players to open up a bit more about their experiences and thanks for everyones support over the years. I'm thinking of working on some new things so will be back with something different after a bit of a refresh.

Thanks for sharing. He's a lovely guy Jamie, and interesting to hear about how he trains at Loughborough with other athletes from different sports in the summer. I've got a few more lined up so the summer should have quite a few more coming out hopefully. Cheers, Dave

Just listened as it took a while to appear on Castro- excellent stuff as ever, but I wonder if you can explain the disclaimer at the start please? Why would CFC turn down a bid from Pompey because of the wage offered to the player? Surely that’s not the selling club’s concern? Sorry to be pedantic- I’m genuinely interested and love listening to these podcasts, so thanks for all your great efforts.

Hi. No worries. It was Sam that asked for that to be put in as said he didnt want it to look like it was Cook who blocked it as it was the club. He didn't want to leave but when Pompey came in to want him on loan he finally resigned himself to leaving and accepted the chance to go to Pompey. The club then aparantely blocked it due to the percentage of wages offered. That's how he described it so wanted to put that in there.
