Couldn't agree more.
In the first half he didn't put a foot wrong and was so quick with his well timed challenges
Ironically, in the second half, when they were more dominant he actually had less to do
Overall as good a game as he'shad for the club

I couldn't agree more! Downes just needs time and games - WHY OH WHY can't town fans see talent when it smacks them in the face! The make hero's out of larkin and hurst but can't judge real talent! (Downes & Allott)
Mr Downes will make a fantastic defender - he's hardly kicked a ball yet for a young defender, just wait until he has!

bang on.
this is,in terms of appearances, his first full season. prior to this season, he`s got 35 games in total. 4 in non league, and 4 as sub. 27 league starts. still a kid really. lets hope he has the time to develop,
he needs to learn the game, read situations and anticipate. experience will help the lad.

Nothing wrong with Mr O'Hare; can slot in a couple of roles fairly well and gives a 110%. A Very useful part of our side. Sooner have Alan than a past it Shinner any day!

Yeah your right; How actions like these are supposed to help any town player never mind a kid that's learning his game is just beond me! Thankfully Alan and Caleb came through it! It certainly show's what their made of!

Rochey, O'Hare, Downes, and Caleb all sem to be made of sterner stuff now. Maybe the sports psychologist is proving effective.

Great, can you send them round to the front and centre of the kop to talk some sense into bottle throwers and boo'ers?

Not if the mindless town fans that Denny has just mentioned destroy him first!

He's getting better and better all the time, as Death says, he's only made 27 full starts - he's learning all the time, and some of the fans need to get it into there heads that he will make mistakes - if he didn't he'd be playing in the league above.
As said above - he's going to be a fantastic defender for us.

So far this season he's done really well and is showing why Roy has stuck with him. Granted he made the odd mistake last season but he needed the games to get better. This season he's clearing the ball well and is a threat with his headers in the oppositions box.
Hopefully Kovacs will be given a chance at some point as he has looked a solid defender.

To me he is definately a decent player who if we nurcher him correctly I am sure he may eventually be sold for a good fee.
However I have seen Kovac a few times and I do think he is the better of the two, big strong and powerfull. Not saying Downes isn't but he doesn;t seem as raw as Downes.
