On the basis that the season is effectively over...what are your thoughts?

This is still premature.

How silly will it look if the poll records "disappointing" and we have just thumped Stockport 6-2 at Wembley in the play-off final?

almost as silly as the scenario itself?
we will just have to accept that the votes are cast as the situation stands at that time,so with us eighth in the table.
5 points off the play offs with three games to go.
given that we were going for it.
reasonable budget with lots of players brought in.
possibly the best footballer/striker in the division on our books.
poor home record.
given the general quality of the opposition.
also that we are pretty sure leven will go at the end of the season plus the possibility of others like ward, kovacs, lester, lowry could be tempted away.
also we recruited a couple of old head one season players to do us 'a job' ie get us out of this division,so we have the possibility of having to replace them.

i would go for somewhere between extremely disappointing and quite disastrous.
If you do what you always do, you'll get what you always get.

We haven't exceeded mine. Most seasons you expect nothing and then anything that comes along is a bonus supporting town. This season I expected us to deliver and I'm more despondent about this season than I have been those when we have been near the bottom. This season we have no excuses whatsoever for being where we are.

Exactly Ern, one wonders what the agenda is of those who try so vehemently to spin this seasons failure.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

I was playing devils advocate.
This season has been one of missed opportunities that were there for the taking.

Marlons,

That poll was created in July 2006, ahead of our relegation season from League One. I, too, have been confused by it!

I wonder if the mods think it worthwhile closing polls a week or a fortnight after they're posted? Allow comments, but as you say, votes on something that old are pointless.
