To be honest, the thought of sending any Notts side to the Conference is appealing. I'll take the win against County to send them packing, thanks.

Day out on the train to watchtown at County or a day out in Mansfield. No contest

As much as I would love to see the Stags get relegated I think they will stay up.

However, Notts are in real trouble and I think we will beat them on the last day of the season to send them into the conference.

Never mind at least they will have a local derby against Burton to look foward to.

If Rotherham drop out of the league they may be Mansfield's saviours.
And ours.....would all results from their games be voided?
If so at this point Rochdale would be 4 points behind us with 2 games in hand. Let's clutch straws together

If we aren't in the play off's by then, we will need the extra income that mansfield's derby game provides next season, every penny is important. If we are in the play offs what team we play depends on the position we finish in. If there is nothing to play for we could maybe give a couple of the younger players a chance but they may beat Notts County anyway.

I'd rather Notts Co go down personally.

I wouldnt like to see Notts relegated. I like them in a way.

As for Rotherham, if they went bust could they re-form next season with a clean slate in the conference?

I'd go one step further, I'd go on Cross Street and cheer on Notts County.

To Be Honest I would hope I never turn up to any game wanting to see anything other than a win for Chesterfield.

People have short memories. How many times have teams saved our ass on the last day/few weeks of a season by winning games when they had nothing to play for? Far too many!

Also having Mansfield in the league gives us a chunk of cash and 6 points every season. Why would I want to give up those?

Knowing our luck we would end up being charged by the FL for bringing the game into disrepute for fielding a weakened side and docked points anyhow!

No thanks. Let's play to win 100% of the time. Winning is a good habit to have.

Of course we shouldnt actually throw the game, and as the players and management arent even from chesterfield (or the vast majority) then there's no reason why anyone would try. You're absolutely right that the game makes us a few quid and normally get us 6 points. However setting aside all these rational arguments, the money we make from playing mansfield isnt going to be the difference between financial stability and ruin. So if we did happen to send mansfield down by losing or drawing v notts county I would still laugh my B****Y back off! Sorry guess I'm just bitter, though I still wouldn't wish bankrupcy on them.

As everyone is probably aware, we play Notts County at Saltergate in the final match of the season. Now Notts are relegation rivals to our little yellow neighbours and it's looking more than likely that the result of that game could decide the Staglet's fate, so let me ask this question: if there's nothing riding on the scoreline from our point of view, would a Notts County victory be acceptable - or even preferable?

I don't know about you lot, but i'd laugh myself silly if our manager (whoever that may be) played an, erm, experimental eleven so to speak and contrived to send the Staggies down.

Thoughts?

I've seen enough experimental elevens for one season thank you!

I should add this scenario doesnt apply if we need a win to make the play-offs.
