Gateshead been booted out of the playoffs due to not have a 10yr tenure on their ground. Won’t be replaced so Solihull land on their feet and are straight through to the semi finals.

That is incredibly harsh and hugely unfair on the other teams who still have to play to qualify for the next stage. NL at its finest. So glad we’re leaving it behind.
Edit. Looks like I was wrong and this is an EFL decision not a NL one. Makes a change.

You’d be fuming if you were Altrincham. Solihull get a bye where as they have to go through a qualifier

If Gateshead aren’t allowed to play Aldershot should be added.

What a **** show of a league and why on earth weren’t Gateshead and the rest of the league informed. If I were Aldershot Town I’d be taking the league to court.

Altringham should have got the bye as the higher placed club. Also now barnet(?) Lose some of their advantage. Gateshead had just loaned someone in for the playoffs, must have been a keeper
Here we go again!

Yeah surely the team that finished highest ie Altrincham should get the bye and the fixtures amended.

What I don’t understand is that the National League have been aware of this issue for the last 2 months. Surely they should have informed all the top 7 plus the teams that realistically could have qualified in 8th place. If I was a Southend or Aldershot fan I’d be absolutely fuming.

8th should have qualified and the ties be rearranged accordingly.

What a fkin farce.

Bromley and Barnet will be oissedd off as they have scrapped all year to earn that advantage of only having to play one game.

Gateshead are p off cos they have been kicked out.

Aldershot will be p off as they finished 8th and can argue they should be in the play offs.

Alty will be p off as they finished above Solihull but have to play the two games.

Just a total monumental fk up.

Yes Gateshead knew the entry rules but how the rest of it has panned out is a joke.

The EFL, NL and Gateshead have been aware of the situation for quite a while and negotiations etc have been going on between all parties and the local council, the ones who won’t grant a ten year lease. The council, Gateshead and the NL have all made representations to the EFL who, along with an independent arbitrary panel, have still refused all propositions. But i agree contingencies should have been put in place,.

Looks like we are leaving one micky mouse league for another. As others have said he EFL and NL should’ve agreed a contingency plan and made known weeks ago once it was clear Gateshead were in the playoff positions

Gateshead local council are as bad as the efl for not really offering a solution to stop it getting to this point. Based on the aldershot managers comments post game yesterday teams around the playoffs knew something was happening as he’d said the players had been told to be ready to play.

Think aldershot would have been in had it been a points deduction but suspect rules say Gateshead are not replaced in this scenario. I can see a late decision and Gateshead playing in them to really show how tin pot it all is. I can understand the efl wanting to protect themselves from a member club ending up homeless.

With that being done to Gateshead and the situation unlikely to change, do we suspect that the players at Gateshead will now be looking at their contracts and then looking at the teams who have or can go up and engineering a move to clubs who are able to play in the EFL if they want their careers to progress? If so are there any we would like to take? I know we've had him before but Marcus Dinanga scored 21 goals this season and has appears to have improved his game and Luke Hannant is a player that could be a likely candidate for a replacement for Banks if he doesn't sign a new contract.

Barnet’s position is interesting. They have announced plans to move to a new stadium but it doesn’t yet even have planning permission. I wonder what guarantees as to their future home have prevailed!

Think they have the guarantee to play at the New Hive whilstever they are working towards building the new ground, bit like we did while moving from the old lady to Whit Moor.

Surprised that Gateshead haven’t managed to negotiate a ground share at South Shields

I haven't listened to it but I wonder if he was suggesting that the EFL were looking for an excuse to keep a club with a 1000 or so (at best) supporters out their league?
