Takes a little longer just so you can fill in the medical. Once you have given your first donation and you are registered you will be in the system. Then the medical form is sent to your home prior to your future donations. Allow about an hour per donation. Small price to pay to save lives. Easy really an hour of your time once every 3 or 4 months

May take a little longer as fish said but from then on it's pretty straight forward.

You'll also be able to prebook future appointments etc.

It's weird that you get a txt now telling you where your blood has been used , time before this it was used at Barnsley hospital and the donation from the 2nd was issued at the NGH on Friday , perhaps it went to a muslim or a white racist , they are not that specific !

I went to the session about a month ago, and they had altered the layout so you went round the room in a circular motion, and ended up having a drink where you used to wait. It seemed to be a lot more efficient that way and I was in and out in 35 minutes, including a cup of coffee and 2 orange clubs and a pack of bourbons (main reason I go tbh ;) )

Was it like that this time and did it make a difference, or did I just get lucky with my timing?

Wasn't keen on the mormon church venue near the bus depot that time - even staff were not allowed tea or coffee in the building, and had to sneak out to the bus for a cuppa from a flask, as it was against the churches beliefs.

Mormons don't like tea and bourbons?

interestingly, its no longer possible to give blood at The Proact as they've increased the rental for use the lounge.

Yesterdays donations took place at the new Mormon church on Sheffield Road (which led to the non-availability of tea & coffee as its a stimulant).

I had to rearrange my appointment which was due to take place yesterday. I was told that there were no appointments at the Proact until June but managed to get one for April at the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints. They prefer you to make an appointment these days.
