Would Chesterfield even bother with a commemorative kit next year to mark the end of Saltergate and the beginning of The *Insert Name* Stadium?

I don't see what the kit would be, seeing as the first one was plain blue worn with trousers. Whatever it is, it would certainly sell anyway.

It's a good idea. We could do an Arsenal and have a completely different kit for a season (cue the moaners).

Not sure about the trousers but I'm all for a return of the green and white striped kit which we had as an away kit in the mid 90's.

I want to see the 1892-3 shirt...

I would go for whatever kit we used in 1872, or the union flag one.
A new hope.

The recent interview with Barry Hubbard suggested that this was something the club was looking at

I think we should also use an 1872 style football for a season as well - all brown leather with massive brain damage enducing stitching. It should get heavier as the match goes on as it absorbs water. We should also employ a tricky left winger called Charlie Charles Charles. The first team squad should grown twisly moustaches for one season only and play whilst smoking pipes. Rico should be forced to play 1-1-8.

I've no doubt there will be a new kit for the last season at Saltergate and also another new kit for the first season in the new stadium.

If we have something stitched into the back of it like Forest what do you think we could have?

If its a new season we will have a new kit. We've had a new one every year for the last 9 seasons. Just the chairmans way of saying thanks to the loyal fans.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

Don't most teams do exactly the same thing?

A number of things will be done to mark the end of the Saltergate era; Alan Stevenson is in charge of that side of things and has experience of doing this with several clubs and the old Wembley, too. I'm not sure whether a specific, commemorative kit has been mentioned but I'm sure its the sort of thing that wil have been considered. There will be things for every pocket but not so many that the club can seriously be accused of ripping people off over the event. As we edge closer to the time, expect various initiatives to be rolled out - including an "End of an Era" book...

Personally, I'd like to see a game played under the Sheffield Rules. It would take a lot of preparation to be any good, but it'd fascinate me to see how the first game on the Rec was actually played.

Yep + add to that this club needs all the money it can get and the whole Premiership sells new home + away shirts almost every season, as does nearly every football club in the league, as far as I'm aware.

PLUS we needed new kits this year anyway due to the sponsors from the old one being crap and not delivering on time...

I like there being new kits every season anyway, you don't have to buy them but they add to the variety

I think it should be written into the players contracts that they should all grow massive moustaches like they used to have in the olden days

just bought 2 (home and away) Arsenal shirts with names and numbers for £105 for my boy, to add to the 2 I bought last year.

But then he wears them all the time - and there aren't many other things that last that long!

Fact of life - following football costs money. Only you can decide if it is worth it!

Will half the players be able to?

What about the fans then, don flap caps and smoke pipes?

Ok, well, atleast the kids bubbles version to comply with the FL's no smoking policy.
