Thinking of travelling overnight, but dependent on overnight m/way closures obvs

The last time I went down, we pulled into Newquay front by fistral beach at 9 am. Think we left at 4am. But it's the luck of the draw, a breakdown or an accident can scupper any good run. These days I hope for a good run but plan for a bad one - any decent places to pull off to visit en route if it's busy, and so on.

Have a great break!

We’ve been up quite a bit over the years but spent the last two new years in Seahouses and already booked in for this new year as well.

Plans normally change each time but we always includes the walk up the beach from Seahouses to Bamburgh to come out by the castle. Recently as tumbled across a restaurant called the pot and lobster which is brilliant. I’ve always wanted to play cricket at bamburgh but never managed it as yet.

My Mum was from Newcastle and when she passed away we scattered her ashes in the shadow of Bamburgh Castle cos she loved that beach.

Scarborough report

North Bay is far nicer

Parked up today and walked the coastal path into Filey about 5 or 6 miles each way, some glorious isolated coves, Filey itself really pleasant

Can confirm Salcombe and surrounding area is lovely but parking is a pain, some of the roads are terrifying and I’m glad I saved up before ordering a meal and drinks.

'The Hope and Anchor' in Hope Cove is a purveyor of excellent ales.

Yorkshire is Yorkshire

We had a Fruits de la Mer and a beer at the Winking Prawn at Salcombe North Bay. Very agreeable, and weather was spot on. (The wallet wasn’t too impressed though 😂)
