By 'Mullen Park' CV, are you referring to the place at Four Lane Ends? In recent years there have been thwarted attempts to resurrect it as a cricket ground.

Is that the place that Cutthorpe have been trying to move to?

Mullan Park (bearing in mind this is from fading memory) was part of the Pete Mullan worldwide vision (well Newbold) of total domination of the leisure industry Having been successful with the building and running of The Olde House pub he set his sites on greater things ie a caravan and leisure park complete with a cricket ground with a pavilion and bar to service both (for his mates at Taveners CC)
The cricket ground and pavilion was established by (guess) the 1977 season and was in use for about 5/6 seasons in the North Derbyshire league (Ihave some old handbooks that reflect this)
Bizarrely the leisure complex was advertised nationally in relevant caravanning magazines and bookings were taken before building work was undertaken on the camping part of the complex which resulted in Taveners CC turning up for a league fixture to find 20 odd families camped on the outfield and square. With the ensuing furore the camp site was never completed. The cricket side went into financial decline through "rumoured dodgy bar dealings" allegedly and closed circa 82/3
The base of the pavilion is visible about 1/4 of a mile on the right hand side travelling towards Dunston from 4 lane end cross roads

I never saw it 'in use' but I can imagine it being a great cricket ground. Someone I know used to play for them and claims that the drains underneath the outfield were deliberately smashed up on which would mean any resurrection of the place would cost many thousands.

It would need some serious cash/work/hours spent on it.

It wasn't the greatest place to play as the pavilion was horrible but I've played at far far worse.

Yes he will be.

I took up Cricket up there for a while as a 16 year old, as they were quite happy to serve underage drinkers, clearly remember Stones being 28p per pint and having immense difficulty walking home to Newbold over the fields one night...
