Hi all

It's nice to see all the kind words about Rob. He was my half-siblings Grandad so my half-grandad if you will. But always treated me as his own.

He was battling cancer with all his might but sadly contracted covid during his fight and this was what ultimately killed him.

Nick Johnson has kindly agreed to put a piece on the website in regards to Rob first thing tomorrow so keep an eye out.

I believe he'll share this picture but in the mean time we found this out we had of him attached in the link below (Rob far left) - anyone else on here part of this old chestnut?

https://twitter.com/...5256847361?s=21

Thanks again for the positive words.

He truly was a Spireite until he died.

Thanks for your posting my friend.

Let's hope that when everyday life returns to some sort of normality we can arrange some sort of gathering and all Robs family and many friends can give him the send off he deserves.

Once again my deepest condolences to Sue,Steve his brother and all his other family and friends.

Thanks for the memories Rob your fifty odd years of friendship will never be forgotten.

RIP my old mate.

Nigel Goodlad.

I'm going to say 68, but could wrong time plays tricks on the memory as you get older.

Great idea mate that I’ve passed on to the family.

I’ll try and arrange something like you say, when normality is restored and keep you posted.

Great ! I'm more than happy to offer any help I can give.

I know many of Robs old mates and I'm sure we'll all pull together to make this happen.

Seems a real shame to let Rob go without a tribute on the day from his mates.

Suggestion:
Could Bobs Board (Spirenag, Moondog etc) try and arrange a drive around of the Proact on the day of Robs funeral by liaising with his family?
We could then have plenty of his mates dressed in the clubs colours, stood at least 2 metres apart in the car park, to give him a round of applause as he passes us by?
We could use the time to get in place at the Proact as our daily exercise “walk” and I would suggest there could be understanding from the public and police as it would only be like the social distancing for the queues at Tesco and Sainsburys etc.

It's a lovely idea but I sadly don't think it's one that can be encouraged.

It is and I would have had a word but sadly it fails to meet the essential criteria.

Thank you Westbars and Moondog, have to agree with you, but such a shame that one of the lads has to leave on his own. It just does not feel right at all.
Anyway hopefully have a send off for him when conditions allow, as previously suggested.

Keep safe.

Just occurred to me during our minutes public services applause - the Club should hold one prior to our first game back for Rob and every other Chesterfield victim of the virus.

Great idea, and I’d offer a shed load of tickets for the NHS staff in the town/district for free, as guests of honour. Open the away end for them. Give them a round of applause to show our appreciation, and remember those unfortunate people who have succumbed to this virus.
A new hope.

We are already looking at how to mark the end of this in terms of remembering those lost as well as recognising the key workers and the community spirit.

Police wont approve it especially now that the Proact has been designated a Testing area.
