RIP Rob. Apart from all the football related memories, the vision of you negotiating obstacles around Chatsworth Road with your ladders will always remain. Another true Spireite departed to early

Really sad news. Rob and I go back along way to the early days watching Town when we met travelling to away games on East Midland 'buses. Since then we always stopped for a chat when our paths crossed.

The last time we had a long chat was walking back from the ground at Torquay a few years ago when we caught up on those great early days. It was like we saw each other everyday. We both longed of seeing Town in the Championship. A decent man and a true Spireite.

RIP Rob.

I can't picture him off hand but I'm sure I'd recognise him when I see a photo of him.

RIP fella.

Really sad news, a top bloke and great company. Saw him regularly around Brampton and had a chat on the way up to my seat in the south stand.
Rob you will be very sadly missed.

Many crematorium services are available nowadays to watch online, I'm planning to watch my Uncle's tomorrow.

I expect if appropriate details of Rob's may be provided in due course

For the last 20 years or more Rob was a window cleaner, prior to that he had numerous jobs including a long stint lorry driving.

He did at one stage live in Walton,if I remember correctly certainly with his first wife Lenora (hope I've got the name right) but that was 1970s/early 80s and my memory has faded with time.

20 or so

Sadly heard tonight of the passing away of one of my oldest friends Rob Wilmot.

Rob sadly lost his battle with cancer.

Rob was a larger than life character and I have so many happy and fond memories of him.

We were both Brampton lads and followed CFC all over since the 1960s.

Condolences to his family.

RIP Rob.

Nigel.

Very sad news Rob was a real character enjoyed so memorable away days when he ran the buses from the Peacock. The most memorable were Bolton in the cup and of course the semi final at Old Trafford. RIP Rob condolences to the family.

RIP Rob.

Was always nice to see you when we met a the football, on the buses, in town or even at the Jingles way back. A great lad and a proper gentleman. Always remember him coming up the stairs in the south stand and smiling and nodding to me. One of the best nights ever was in Sheffield on Barry Watson’s stag night, what a night that was. About 90 of us on two buses with a police escort back to town.

Was a real pleasure to have known you Rob.

Hi all

It’s nice to see all the kind words about Rob. He was my half-siblings Grandad so my half-grandad if you will. But always treated me as his own.

He was battling cancer with all his might but sadly contracted covid during his fight and this was what ultimately killed him.

Nick Johnson has kindly agreed to put a piece on the website in regards to Rob first thing tomorrow so keep an eye out.

I believe he’ll share this picture but in the mean time we found this out we had of him attached in the link below (Rob far left) - anyone else on here part of this old chestnut?

https://twitter.com/...5256847361?s=21

Thanks again for the positive words.

He truly was a Spireite until he died.
