At the recent fans group meeting I asked Ashley Kirk, who was due to attend the National League AGM , if he could ask the league to explain why it takes so long, I'll try and find out if he asked and got a response

Can he also ask why the lack of midweek fixtures in August/Sept given the carnage that occurs every season from Jan onwards playing Sat/Tue ten weeks in a row

We played 11 games in August and September last season.

That included two Tuesday night fixtures plus the BH Monday game which was effectively a third extra midweek fixture.

My perception of how the NL operate is that the first few weeks of the season are loaded very heavily with fixtures.

It'll be too late now as the AGM has been and gone. It's the FA Trophy and the insistence on it being played on Saturday's that creates fixture congestion and not just for the team still in it

2 Tuesday nights in 9 weeks doesnt sounds very front loaded to me considering we did 8/9 in 10 weeks in Jan/Feb/March

We should have at least 2 a month in Aug/Sept

Without wanting to sound pedantic, it was 2 Tuesday games and an extra BH Monday game which constituted 3 midweek fixtures over August and September.

We then had a further 2 midweek games in October so 5 midweek fixtures in the first 3 months doesn’t leave much scope to meet your 2 a month suggestion.

As another poster has suggested, it’s not the lack of fixtures early doors that causes the issue but the FA Trophy taking up Saturdays.

An explanation from the NL as to how the fixtures are compiled, doesn't really explain why it takes so long

It says clubs are asked who they would like to play over Easter and Christmas. I suppose that involves quite alot of inter-club communications before the questionnaires are returned.

No point in us requesting, say, Oldham if they aren't interested.

It's probably the questionnaire that is the root cause of the delay, why ask for shortest and longest journeys when it's public knowledge and location should be something that's held in the database.

By naming the guy from the software company they appear to be passing the buck

Yes, that's interesting, how come boredom and soilyhull don't end up playing each at these festive times. Surely a trip to these would be on anybodies avoid list.

And, since Bob's Board is an hour behind the clock, we can't discuss them until 2pm.
It's nice to be able to Trust again.

The National Leagure are an embarrassment, to not even know your fixtures after your start preseason is bad enough, but even on the day of release we have to wait till 1pm, why?
