I've seen Ian Evatt done for pace quite a few times and make some awful errors, as well, but in recent years he didn't score the number of goals Evans has either.

A fully fit Evans is a decent CB for this league and the least of our problems.

Who says he isn't the least of our problems?

No, he said Evans was the least of our problems. I asked who disputed that.

evans was brought in to play alongside the more experienced nelson and in front of the more experienced jalal, as the season has gone on he has been paired with various partners, played in front of a less experienced keeper, had a few games at right back, just more examples of mess. for me he's done ok, Sheridan has asked players for 7/10 performances week in week out, to date evans has probably been more 6/10 regularly, I think having jalal behind him and weir in front of him will help but I think he is one who will thrive under Sheridan and is a player not really under threat.

He has upped his game considerably and long may it continue. Not sure why dtp compared him to Evatt who was playing in the championship at the same age. I said earlier Evans should be a solid cb at this level of football especially if he has a reliable partner in central defence, and look forward to seeing who Shez brings in.

fully agree, the partner is key, does Sheridan go for experience or does he go for someone with pace?

We already have an experienced cb without pace (Nelson) so some pace to help Evans would be ideal but no idea who's available out there and would be prepared to come here

Over recent seasons we have had a slow CB pairing. One of those CB's was Evatt and there were some who thought he was worth another year's playing contract for this season. Hence my comparison and nothing to do with which league Ian was playing in at Evan's age.

Scoring some goals is good but it doesn't make him fast...is Denton a whippet?!

Evatt was slow, but read the game well. He's faster that Evo and if we get someone quick next to him he'll do very well
(and before the trolls come out I'm not saying he's as good as Evo was when we first had him)

What's happened to Dodds? Is he injured? Why bring him back and park him? You would've thought we'd be happy to let Vale keep paying his wages if we weren't going to anything with him.

wasn't it vale's decision to send him back to us?

Did we bring him back or did Port Vale send him back?

I can see weir being used in the allot role to better effect than any previous manager has. just struck me whilst typing this that RW amongst others will be playing under his 4th "permanent" manager in a town shirt.

This was a better post, Weir is proving to be a very important player for the way we now play.

Often is, but his face doesn’t fit for some.

Nah. He’s had the odd good game but he also gives the ball away casually a lot of the time. It’s not about faces fitting it’s about how good he is on the pitch, nobody gets anything out of Weir not playing well for us. If he keeps playing well he will be praised.
