Agreed, but when will he be back to his best.
In reality he hasn't been fully fit for the best part of a year
I reckon his career is in the balance

If he's not been fully fit for the best part of a year, let's not:
1 - throw him in before he's truly ready
2 - have greater expectations of him than we should
You can find fitness quicker than form, so one good/average/poor game doesn't make or break his comeback.
As for his career being in the balance, I'm not so sure. He can't help being injured/needing surgery/taking time to come back, so further contracts would be based on what he gives us when he's fit. The outsourced specialists and in-house medical team will know if he's really hanging onto a career.
I've every faith in him to come good in all aspects of his recovery and career moving forward

He's had a few false dawns that's why I said his career is in the balance
One of the forums resident medical experts described the procedure he went through last winter as his last chance. At the time I thought oh yeah. I'm sure it was reattaching soft tissue to bone with glue or something like that. Anyway he came back from it and was soon knackered again. He's had all summer to recover and didn't
Hopefully this time they've sorted it for good, time will tell but if it doesn't where does he go from there

Thanks for that, I missed the update on the seriousness of the injury. Certainly adds the context to your comment. Cheers

Drew isn't a right back, he isn't the answer and neither is Tendayi - we got away with it in L2, I think it's a problem in L1

When comparing the attributes of DT to TD I will mention two words "Anthony Straker" - played for Southend and still a league two player with York City.
Enough said!

Cook wants his full backs to attack and provide the width. Defensive duties don't seem a priority as proved when he got rid of Smith and signed Jones.
We'll be lucky to find one that can do both well.
Darikwa's problem is that he can't cross, he's forgotten how to beat his man and he over plays in critical areas so he's not doing the attacking bit very well either. I reckon that is why he's come under so much fire.
Recently he is being taken to the cleaners but that is a combination of having Roberts/O'Shea ahead of you allowing overlaps and some tricky/speedy wide players recently.

Ironically based on who we have tried out on the right wing Tendi would probably walk back into that position now.
Brindley isnt playing much for Rotherham - reckon he would come on loan?

Tendayi would put in a shift on the right-hand side of midfield and would help with the defensive duties.
We play with 2 strong holding midfielders, but if we're weak on the flanks they can be by-passed.
But it's a difficult choice, do we sacrifice fluidity for solidity? Conceding soft goals has to stop, we can't steamroller teams and out-score them, so what do we do?
Old cliche - who'd be a manager?

Drew is a right back and a very good one at that.
Once fully fit, I'd like to see Talbot RB with Tendy in front of him

I don't agree, he's a very good player but is a forward by trade and gets by in that position due to his talent and work-rate.
We have gone up a level, I think we need specialist players in the specialist positions

When he initially joined us (loan circa Feb 2009?), then he was injury prone. From start of 2010/2011 season he then had quite a good run where he was relatively injury free up until last season.

We find ourselves in a division with plenty of good teams, who can break quickly out of defence.
To solve this we need midfielders who track back and help out the defence, that is a problem on the right hand side of midfield because neither Roberts or O Shea track back.

You've just said Talbot is not the answer quite dogmatically then said the problem is because nobody tracks back on the RHS
That sort of indicate he might be the answer with a bit of cover

It certainly worked well at the start of last season

Talbot struggled in League 2 against poorer wingers he got beaten all ends up a few times, in this league he will really be found wanting.
We could do with a proper right back, not wingers converted to the position.

Spot on - and its not a criticism of either. They've been asked to do a job away from their natural position.
Hope Drew's injury is soon sorted.

Agreed. For what it's worth I'd probably go Tendayi ahead of Drew, but both are far from ideal. Once Johnson's gone back (and please only then Cook) Roberts to play centrally with Clucas left and it pains me to say it but probably Boco on the right (not in a bad way again Boco as he's a good player) but more in a way that O'Shea and Gardner have more quality attacking wise to their game, but aren't going to help Tendayi out a deal and he's really struggling at the minute, though I'm really wanting to see what triangles and quality through balls at the end of them that Gardner, Clucas/Roberts can play with Johnson before he returns to Villa (though it doesn't look like I'm going to get my wish). I’ve seen it touched upon late on in a game at home when Dan came on as a sub and it really excited me what I saw and would love to see more of it to see if it has legs (before it’s too late); though I can't for the life of me remember Clucas being still on the field (if he was he was at left back) or even the game in question
