Were Boringwood met with the now customary free fairy cakes and a cuppa Saturday?

Looks like they got free pies on Saturday as well!

I don't think the North Stand can be segregated in this way due to the concourse not having anything to separate, the East Stand has built in the partition that can be closed to provide away fans their own facilities

As it stands it would need a load of work underneath to make it work in that way. Not been in there for a while but it would need toilets and bar at both ends to allow it to be gated off underneath and have everything both sets of fans would need.

I understand there would be work to do, but if the above is possible surely it’s an option. We know we lose loads of seats on the East due to where the segregation has to go (I believe for numbers in the home East part).
Have some way of doing similar on the North but with better use of space allowing to get more people in, with the option of giving an away team the whole North (in the cup)

I thought the North stand was a mirror image of the south so has got toilets at each end , catering facilities all the way along and turnstiles at both ends , just need a barrier in the middle

I might be wrong, but those 3 games you mention involved the away sides having the North Stand only, therefore no segregation anywhere around the ground with all available seats on sale. (Was this also the time that non attending season tickets were counted?)

The dee dah games, did they have the North and some of the East, so some segregation?

There is the front 3 rows to consider as well, they are very rarely available unless it's going to sell out with plenty of time to release them

Gillingham were housed in the East stand from what I remember..

Anyone any idea how many wasted seats there was in the Boreham Wood end on Saturday? Look over a hundred easily from the photos?

Not sure they can be classed as wasted...short of not allowing away fans at all i'm not sure what else can be done.

There looked be 35/40 away fans which would mean 200ish unsold/covered I think.

Away attendance was announced i think as about 80 although that looked optimistic!

Im sure I read somewhere that Rangers have moved tiny away followings into the directors area to free up the space to home fans.

Increasing the home capacity by whatever means would mean the away capacity would have to increase pro rata. Would this increase mean more than E1-3 would be required causing more problems.

Rotherham, probably the closest to us size wise n the Championship have an average of 10,700 this season from a capacity of 12,000. They typically allocate 2,500 to away fans.

Appreciate they are struggling, but if we did anything similar it’d still be touch and go as to whether it’d justify the expenditure. To coin a phrase we’d have to be sure we would ‘build it and they will come’.

Last season Luton had an average of 9,800, so even a successful club who gets promoted has a finite capacity. I suspect for us a 10k (ish) capacity would be plenty for most of the time.

For games where there’s high demand, some people may have to miss out, or they could buy a season ticket. Even if they were to sell out of season tickets, it’s not uncommon for clubs to have waiting lists for season tickets (Arsenal apparently have a waiting list of over 10 years). Having limited availability could also stimulate demand and increase season ticket sales.

I wouldn’t wholly discount it, but it seems quite a long way off for any capacity increases.

Very good post, there would be a massive cost to increase seat volume and no guarantee of the. Being used long term.

As a fan who can’t get every week, I’d happily miss many games because I can’t get a ticket, would show how well we were doing.

10k is about right for our club. Just need to make the most of every seat in the ground

When we play the bigger clubs with big away followings the away end is the same size as the home end. Cosmetically and for crowd/noise advantage,... it would be nice to add another 1,000 the the South Stand.

Think thats the plan, the rule for a minimum percentage was National League only so next season it would only be in place for the FA Cup i think.

Cheers. My lad and his mates won't sit anywhere else so his mates have said they just won't go. They like to make a bit of noise so would be wasted anywhere else in the ground anyway.

W7 probably the only real alternative - seems to have a decent group standing now - will swell massively for bigger games next season as well you'd think.

I'm 99.o% sure that the EFL's guaranteed minimum rule is 2,000 or 10%, whichever is the lower.

What happens when a club offers to pay up front for the North Stand? 1,800 v 1,000 in E1 and E2.
That's 800 ticket sales, which we might not sell.
There's likely to be a game, or two, like that.
