Read with surprise on the BBC yesterday, that Danny was a former Chesterfield player.

During my quick search to prove I wasn't cracking up, I came across the fact that he played in the Brighton side that won 2-1 at Saltergate in 2002 when Zamora 'nicked' the ball off Nathan Abbey to score the season after the promotion season.

He come on after 74mins according to Soccerbase.

Seeing that goal again makes me angry still! Presumably the fact he only had it under one arm (i.e not both hands) would have been OK at some distant point in history.

As I recall the referee and linesman (as he would have been then) had turned their back on Abbey to run back towards the halfway line. Can only think they both chose to assume he had dropped it.

I was at this match (albeit i was very young) and remember me and my dad being fuming about it at the time. We both hated Zamora ever since that game.

Surprised nobody has commented on Danny’s picture on Wikipedia.
It has grown a bit since.
