What’s all this terrible nonsense we’re seeing now every week with pitch invasions and players being physically attacked. Yesterday after a pitch invasion by Man City fans the Villa goalkeeper was attacked by thugs!
It’s time the FA took proper charge and and besides fan banning orders they should punish also the clubs involved with points deductions this would stop it. Plus prison sentences for attackers. If authorities don’t get a strong grip we’re heading back to the 70’s and 80’s.What do you reckon?

It doesn't matter if it's nothing new though. The point is that it's now out of hand and but for a few idiots the rest of us are going to get punished. I don't want to watch football through netting around the pitch or even feel as though players are going to fear for their well being because the other team has just achieved something good in the game.
It's got to be stamped out somehow quickly because we are heading back to fencing being around the pitch again and those days were vile. At the moment we have families attending matches, the club are doing all they can to attract support for the future, all this will stop if certain sections of support arent going to behave themselves inside or immediately around the ground.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

That story is just pure bulls**t!
They were saying that Ebbsfllet equalised in the fifth minute of injury time and a supporter lobbed a bottle at Ashmore knocking him down. Then we had the pitch invasion where a supporter ran on the pitch and kicked him! All lies!!

Was just watching the footage on BBC Breakfast. WTF?! You’ve just won the league in that dramatic fashion and the first thought of not one but several of them was to attack the Villa keeper?

Bewildering!

There will come a time when a player is seriously injured or worse. Take that Billy Sharp incident, he was literally headbutted to the floor he could have easily hit his head on something as he hit the deck and killed him. Did that incident deter pitch invasions this weekend? No. We can't say its just a small minority of folk invading the pitch either because it isn't.

Clubs are fined but that doesn't deter it as the fines are just loose change. Clubs need to be docked points, if that doesn't work then fences need to go back up

It's funny how its become a thing in football, if someone wins the gold medal for Britain people don't run on the track...

I've got zero time for people that invade the pitch. People know its against the rules, they should clamp down on it by saying they'll charge and ban anyone that goes on the pitch using CCTV footage and deduct the club points for invasions.

Only a matter of time before someone is stabbed.

I recall there was a debate about the appropriateness of pitch invasions when we last won the League. 2 championship- with plenty of defending posters for the right to ‘celebrate’. For me, ignoring the obvious safety issue, it spoils the day for the majority who wanted to see their team parade the trophy/do a lap of honour unhindered by folk hugging the players.

It's not just becoming a thing, it's been a thing for at least fifty years. We did it against Wrexham in the FA Cup: should we have been chucked out of the cup? Half our support would have been banned by your rules.

I don't mind a celebratory invasion but players assaults should lead to point deductions and crowd bans.

As excited as I've been after games I've stayed in the stand. There's a huge risk to people on the pitch too that they get trampled on etc.

It's not our "right" to invade the pitch. Maybe it should just be a straight up £1000 fine from the police for trespassing on the pitch then it'd certainly stop people doing it in the future.

You are spot on with your observations on the day, but that was all the lad did 'getting in his face'. We know he shouldn't have been on the pitch etc etc but the pure fabrication of events and the subsequent actions of NA on social media were embarrassing. The Talk Sport interview completely ingored the fact that NA condemned a video clip for racist content until he realised it was one of his own fans. That fan closed his account immediately but alas no further action against him; no questioning NA about his and his team mates in the goal mouth on the day and good old Talksport refusing to put cfc fans on air because of a very one sided and inaccurate view of events on the day.

As I said on the other thread players have a responsibility to be aware of their actions. Take the ex Vale player playing for Swindon, his team mates had to protect him from the invading Vale fans at the end of the game.

Brian Clough was a stickler on players respecting the refs on field decision's at the time and my dying memory is of him cuffing the forest fan round the side of the head will remain for ever.
